Southern Charm’s main storyline this season has been about the passion shared between Austen Kroll and Taylor Ann Green. I have had multiple sleepless nights thinking about what actually went down, and I landed on the conclusion that, yes, the pair most likely had sex. I don’t have evidence, but I do have intuition. When you find yourself in a tight-knit circle, it becomes incestuous. And when you are surrounded by dark bars and alcohol, you get brave. Add in a sprinkle of hubris with the mindset of never getting caught, and you have the recipe for one heck of friends with benefits situation.
Austen’s Freudian Slip
My favorite thing about Austen is that he always looks like a deer in the headlights no matter what the occasion, especially when he is backed into a corner and word vomiting. Once again, Austen and Shep Rose found themselves battling over who was the worst boyfriend. Let me tell you, there was no clear winner. Both men suck. As Austen is trying to act out what happened with Taylor, which included an intense demonstration of their kiss with an unsuspecting Whitney Sudler Smith as a prop. During the entire charade, Austen lets slip that he and Taylor “fu*ked” before quickly changing his word choice to “fu*king made out.”
If that isn’t a clue, I don’t know what it is. Madison LeCroy quickly pointed out the mistake, but as usual, Austen turned his anger onto her, deflecting with name-calling. The light of truth was shined right onto Austen, and he failed the test miserably only going to prove he can’t be trusted.
Austen Has Tell Signs
Like every liar, Austen also has telltale signs to help fans figure out when he isn’t telling the truth. Austen is forever looking uncomfortable and often tries his best to avoid suspicion, though his attempts rarely work. The Trop Hop founder’s body language speaks volumes as Craig Conover once pointed out that his friend always stares to the left when he is spinning a tale. Austen also starts to fidget and touch his face.
Perhaps the Southern Charm star’s biggest tell is when he starts to rub his face intensely and tries his best to avoid eye contact. The entire season thus far has shown Austen rubbing himself and face-palming every time he has to face Shep. The playboy of Charleston can’t hide his emotions to save his life. Personally, I’d love to play a bit of poker with the guy. Mama needs a new Gucci purse.
Austen Gaslights
Long before Austen found himself hooking up with his best friend’s girl, he was a pro at putting the women in his life down, often gaslighting them by calling them “insane.” A perfect example of this is when Madison caught him in the middle of a threesome. She saw everything, but Austen still tried to make her out to be the unhinged one, telling her, “You are being crazy right now. The fact that you recognize it doesn’t make it okay.” Um, excuse me, sir?
Taylor and Austen Can’t Keep Their Story Straight
Finally, if you are going to lie, you better be good at it. Sadly, this isn’t the case for Austen or Taylor. During a recent episode, Taylor came clean to Olivia Flowers that she and Austen had considered dating and even talked to their families about it. However, when Taylor admitted to Austen that she had said this, he was visibly annoyed, reminding her they were supposed to keep that information to themselves.
Both Taylor and Austen swore up and down that nothing had happened between them, yet here they are, not even being able to get their story straight. Such amateurs. Taylor was aware that she was very much betraying Olivia, and Austen was happy to oblige. There is no amount of telling fans differently since it is beyond obvious the dup slept together. They can deny it to the cows come home but frankly, their words mean nothing.
