Sobriety is a serious thing. That should go without saying. When someone chooses to give up alcohol for the rest of their life, that’s no small feat. To speculate about anyone’s drinking habits is rather serious as well, especially when the speculation comes with hefty accusations.
As such, it rubbed Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans the wrong way when Kyle Richards began spreading rumors about Sutton Stracke’s relationship with alcohol. Kyle’s gossiping was especially egregious since Kyle became sober not all that long ago.
Indeed, after a year of sobriety, one would think Kyle would be more sensitive. If Kyle truly was concerned about Sutton, she might talk to her privately. As such, it’s hard to take her comments on Sutton seriously. All the more confusing amid this whole situation was Kyle’s recent promotion on Instagram.
Is Kyle a hypocrite when it comes to alcohol?
On December 20, Kyle posted a reel to her Instagram promoting “one of her family’s favorite brands and their most-loved tequila drink, Mamitas Tequila Seltzer.” As of eight hours after the reel’s initial posting, comments have been disabled. However, that didn’t stop fans from discussing the strange promotion elsewhere.
For a couple of weeks now, fans have been discussing Kyle’s relationship with alcohol, given the drama with Sutton. On December 16, Twitter user @nosmokenomore posted a screenshot of Kyle’s IG story, which read, “You can just ‘outgrow’ alcohol you know. You don’t have to be an ‘alcoholic.’”
Many fans agreed with the sentiment, with several Twitter replies voicing their experiences of having given up alcohol despite not being addicts. Others, however, wondered if Kyle was perhaps downplaying her past with alcohol. Others still noted the perceived hypocrisy given how she was spreading rumors about Sutton.
