On December 22, Kim Kardashian posted an Instagram Reel showing her house decorated for Christmas. She lined her halls with numerous Christmas trees covered in fake snow. The video was mostly a chance for The Kardashians star to advertise her brand’s cotton wrapping paper.
Still, most IG users looked past the ad and criticized the décor. One commenter accused Kim of having more money than she knew what to do with. Others criticized Kim for going way too big, while others still said the house was far too plain looking.
Of course, if there’s one thing the internet hates more than an out-of-touch celebrity, it’s another out-of-touch celebrity jumping to criticize the first. That’s where Bethenny Frankel entered. The former Real Housewives of New York star had a word or two to say about Kim’s in-home winter wonderland.
Bethenny to Kim K: “Not shade. It’s just humor”
On December 24, Bethenny posted a video to Instagram asking her audience, “Want to see Kim Kardashian’s living room? I’m here right now.” She turned the camera to an outdoor space with tall evergreen trees and powdered snow. Bethenny went on, “She did a good job with the decorations, don’t you think?”
The Skinnygirl founder then continued the joke, addressing Kim directly: “God, I’m so glad she invited me. “This looks really good Kim. Honestly, it’s some of your best work. Happy holidays!” In her caption, Bethenny wrote, “No one does holiday decorations like the Kardashians… Happy Holidays!”
Commenters voiced general confusion and disapproval of the joke. One commenter asked, “Are you sour she didn’t invite you or are you being sarcastic?” Bethenny argued with multiple commenters and posted an additional general comment, writing, “What’s funny is it’s not shade. It’s just humor.”
