Shannon Beador risked letting everything slip not all that long ago. Perhaps if she’d blown up at the Real Housewives of Orange County production in 2023, things wouldn’t have gone so well for her. Luckily, she had Jeff Lewis to lend a guiding, chiding hand.
After 2023, the reality TV landscape has changed. With so much criticism levied against production last year, reality stars and former stars find themselves in one of two camps: with production or against it. There’s no in-between.
Reality stars need to be more careful than ever these days, especially Bravolebrities, considering Bravo took the majority of heat in 2023. As such, reality TV cast members need to be careful with their costars, crew, and producers.
Shannon almost left Bravo and blew up at production
On the fourth episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic Podcast, Shannon spoke with Alex Baskin about all things RHOC. She revealed that somewhere between Season 11 and 12, she’d threatened to quit the show. When her and David Beador’s “marriage started to crumble,” Shannon was understandably upset and said she’d exit the show then and there.
Shannon recounted the events to Alex: “I called all of you one day and I go, ‘I’m out! I’m done with this show!’” Later, she received a call from a concerned friend. “Jeff Lewis called me the next day and he goes, ‘You get on the phone and you call.’ I even texted Andy [Cohen]; I apologized to all of you.”
She then assured everyone that she never tried to quit again after the fact and had no intention of quitting in the future. “To this day I have been angry but I never said ‘I’m quitting. I’m done with the show.’ I’m grateful … the crew – they’re like family to me. It’s been a blessing. With a lot of hard times.” For the foreseeable future, Shannon is firmly in Bravo’s camp.
