The Golden Bachelor wedding was no small affair, and for good reason. Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist‘s engagement made Bachelor Nation history, as they are the franchise’s first “golden couple.” Viewers were rooting for Gerry to find the second love of his life, after the sudden passing of his dear wife, Toni. To the excitement of Bachelor Nation, he succeeded by forming an inseparable bond with Theresa.
As Gerry pointed out, at his and Theresa’s age there is no time to waste! As a result, the couple decided to marry as quickly as possible. They were also kind enough to agree to live stream their wedding, so that all of Bachelor Nation could attend. From start to finish, the Golden Wedding was truly a night to remember. While there were many amazing moments from the wedding, these three are our favorite!
Theresa’s Walk Down The Aisle
While the entirety of the wedding procession was beautiful, Theresa’s walk down the aisle was undoubtedly the highlight. It was a big moment for Theresa, who revealed that her first wedding wasn’t exactly the event of her dreams. Theresa and her first husband Billy got married in her basement and only had a few days to plan it. As a result, Theresa never got to pick out her dream dress.
The Golden Wedding was a completely different experience for Theresa, however, as she was able to plan the event from start to finish. Theresa also got to pick out an absolutely stunning dress with the help of her family and friends.
Theresa’s walk down the aisle with her son Tim was an emotional moment, and you could easily tell how much it meant to her. Any wedding is a cause for celebration, but there is something particularly touching about finding love again after losing your first love. Not many Bachelor Nation couples are easy to root for, but Theresa and Gerry certainly are.
Brayden Proposing To Christina (Hear Us Out)
There’s no question that proposing at someone else’s wedding is certainly a choice. However, for Bachelor Nation icons Brayden Bowers and Christina Mandrell, it was perfectly on brand. After all, Brayden did make sure to get permission from Gerry and Theresa ahead of time, so we respect it!
Despite both having a controversial history in the franchise, Brayden and Christina seem perfect for each other. There aren’t many Bachelor Nation couples fans expect to work out long term, but Brayden and Christina have a good chance!
Brayden and Christina were both the “villains” on their respective seasons. Christina was originally a frontrunner on The Bachelor Season 27, led by Zach Shallcross, where she received the first one-on-one date. However, after clashing with some of the other women over her connection, Christina was sent home by Zach early on.
On the other hand, Brayden was somewhat problematic on The Bachelorette Season 20, led by Charity Lawson. Brayden, like Christina, was a frontrunner and received the first impression rose on night one. However, Brayden let the stressful process of the show get to his head and eventually self-eliminated when he could not get along with the other men.
Christina and Brayden both struggled during their respective seasons, so it is nice to see them find a happy ending with each other!
Kathy’s Redemption Arc
One of the most surprising parts of the night was the prominence of Kathy Swarts. Kathy and Theresa had an infamous feud on The Golden Bachelor, mainly because of Kathy. Kathy was one of the first women to notice Gerry’s strong connection with Theresa, and grew tired of Theresa constantly chatting about her feelings for him. In a memorable one-liner, Kathy told Theresa to “zip it.”
Bachelor Nation fans were surprised to see Kathy as one of the golden carpet hosts, along with Charity. To the surprise of many, Kathy did an amazing job as host and made it clear that she was elated for Gerry and Theresa. Kathy chatted with multiple of her former castmates throughout the evening, including Leslie Fhima, who also surprised many by attending.
In a throwback clip, it was revealed that Theresa even invited Kathy along for wedding dress shopping. In a full circle moment, Theresa asked Kathy for help trying on her dress, since she couldn’t zip it. Kathy loved the joke, and the two women shared a heartwarming hug. It’s always good to see a good redemption arc, especially when it comes to Bachelor Nation villains!
