Even before the big Reality Von Tease reveal, many wondered if Monica Garcia was genuine. Throughout RHOSLC Season 4, Monica’s actions were often questionable at best. Though some moments felt off at the time, others seem particularly phony in hindsight, once the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City finale exposed her. Even more has come out since the finale aired. As we look back on RHOSLC Season 4, here are some of Monica’s fakest moments.
Monica Crying Over The Louis Vuitton Bag
Now that the disturbing video of their fight leaked, it’s fair to question Monica’s supposed vulnerable moment with her mom. That video seemed to indicate they were both in on it from the beginning. Linda even lectured Monica that she needed to think of herself as an actress.
This early Season 4 moment was meant to show Monica’s insecurities about not fitting in with the wealthier group. But Monica buying a Louis Vuitton bag to fit in contradicts her attitude about Lisa Barlow losing her $60K ring. Both contradictory moments seem, in hindsight, like a ploy to get audience sympathy. If Monica really wanted to fit in with the ladies, wouldn’t she spend that money on her BeautyLab bill instead?
Every Time Monica Acted Like Heather Gay’s Friend
Before they went shopping together in Episode 2, Monica said she didn’t know much about Heather Gay. This was obviously a lie. Not only did Monica blog about the RHOSLC cast, she also tried to scam Heather’s business, and was best friends with Tenesha Luckett, Heather’s hair stylist. Monica even asked Tenesha for Heather’s address, presumably so she could do drive-bys like she did to Jen Shah.
Given what we know now, it’s icky to think about all of Monica’s fake moments acting like she wanted to be Heather’s friend. She tried to bond by strategically using what they had in common as former Mormons and single moms of daughters. Asking Heather about her daughter’s sex life was already one of Monica’s low points. Now that we know the depths of Monica overstepping boundaries and invading privacy, it’s even worse. Not to mention how much Heather spoiled Monica on her birthday!
Monica Taking Meredith Marks’ Side Over Angie K’s In Palm Springs
Monica ostensibly joined the show as a friend of Angie Katsanevas. But when Angie crashed the Palm Springs trip, Monica threw her under the bus to side with Meredith Marks. While Heather accused Angie of social climbing by cozying up to the OGs, the same could be said about Monica.
Angie already called out Monica’s fake moment, publicly shading her at Trixie Motel. That didn’t stop Monica from chastising Angie at the infamous “You! Can! LEAVE!” dinner. She even told Angie not to mess with Meredith’s business, which is rich considering Monica’s outstanding BeautyLab bill.
When Monica Said She’d Never Been To Meredith’s Store Before
One of the many bombs dropped in the finale was the security footage of Monica visiting Meredith Marks’ eponymous store in 2020. Cut to Monica’s visit this season, which she said was the first time she went there. Even if Monica had no clue the security footage existed, this was such a weird thing to lie about. It also lead to some confusion about if Monica was the one who stole the clutch (but Meredith suspects that was someone else).
Monica Asking Lisa Barlow To Meet Her Bermuda Family
Up until the Bermuda trip, Monica and Lisa were at each other’s throats. If Monica actually thought she’d see her Bermuda family, why in the world would she want Lisa there? It’s an action that makes you wonder if Monica knew the meet-up wouldn’t happen before her meltdown.
Monica had a pattern of fake moments trying to get close to the OGs. Before the Bermuda trip, Monica suddenly acted very close to Mary Cosby. She even adopted Mary’s persona as a loner who can’t stand the other women. Monica gushed over Mary’s house and carrot cake (that Mary didn’t even make). Considering Mary’s bizarre home decor, it’s hard to believe Monica’s compliments were genuine. But it worked, because now Mary is Monica’s only supporter in the cast.
To bring things back to Bermuda, this request was clearly a move to flatter Lisa’s ego, so that she could get Baby Gorgeous on her side against Meredith.
Monica Bringing Up The Greek Mafia Rumors
Once she starting acting like Lisa’s friend, Monica accused Meredith of spreading rumors that Angie was in the Greek mafia. Monica clearly studied Meredith and Lisa’s feud in Season 3. That made it easier for Lisa to take Monica’s side. As a result, Meredith was ostracized for much of the trip (of course, her bathtub meltdown didn’t help).
In a drastic turn from sucking up to Meredith in Palm Springs, this moment seems like Monica was trying to take her place in the group. Why else would she be so annoyed at Meredith and Lisa sharing a moment celebrating Brooks Marks signing with a modeling agency.
Of course, this was Monica’s fake moment that led to her undoing. Especially her comments about making a secret Instagram account to spread rumors. That was a lightbulb moment for Heather, who was already gathering RECEIPTS! PROOF! TIMELINE! SCREENSHOTS! to expose Monica as a fraud.
Every Moment Monica Claimed To Be An Open Book
This is self-explanatory. Is there anything more fake than boasting you’re a truth-teller when you constantly lie? There are too many moments of Monica insisting she’s open and honest to count. Those may be Monica’s fakest moments in all of RHOSLC Season 4.
