Over the years, we’ve seen Karen Huger and Ray Huger tackle some very real marital problems on The Real Housewives of Potomac. Their marriage is an institution, but that doesn’t make it perfect.
Karen had to “soldier up” for Ray as he navigated tax issues. Then, we watched them try to regain their spark after it fizzled out. They’ve been together for nearly 30 years — of course, there are going to be some ups and downs.
In a sneak peek of Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8, Episode 9, it looks like Ray has found himself in the hot seat with Karen once again. She sat him down and gave him a good, old-fashioned fussing for “dropping the ball” on her. Here’s why.
RHOP Season 8, Episode 9 preview: Get it together, Ray
Earlier this season, Karen shared with her RHOP co-stars how she underwent some tests and discovered a calcium build-up in her carotid arteries.
“I went for all of the tests, which would scare you,” Karen told her co-stars during a Pilates class. “MRI, calcium, EKG, stress test, blockage and what have you. I still choke up when I say it.”
She eventually revealed that she has a five percent buildup of calcium in her carotid arteries. Karen said that it’s not an immediate threat to her life, but diet and exercise will be important as she enters her “triple 20.”
Karen’s RHOP buddies received her health news with warmth, but apparently, Ray’s reaction wasn’t as tender. She called him as soon as she got the news from her cardiologist, but Ray rushed her off the phone. So, Karen had to get him together and remind him of his priorities.
“When I got my results from my cardiologists, you dropped the ball,” Karen told Ray.
Karen said that Ray rushed her off the phone and acted like he was too engaged with his day to listen to what Karen had to say. She acknowledged that her husband is a busy guy, but seriously, how hard is it to show a little bit of empathy over the phone?
“Timing is everything,” Ray replied to which Karen quipped, “Timing my ass, I should be the priority.”
Ray tried to give a handful of excuses for why he was so short on the phone. He was running late. He was in the bathroom. The list could go on and on, but Karen didn’t care. She just needed her man’s undivided attention at that moment.
Karen explained, “You took my call, but it was a very insensitive reaction you gave. You were like, rushing me off the phone, and it really hurt.”
Ultimately, Ray apologized. They hugged it out, but he better not let this happen again. He should know that a happy wife means a happy life.
