Sutton Stracke is coming into her own this season on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She’s found her voice in the group and is able to maneuver the drama using her own brand of quirky.
The RHOBH star started dating, thanks to help of a matchmaker. Sutton even got asked out again, breaking an unfortunate streak of unsuccessful rendezvous.
Most importantly, Sutton speaks of her pride at running a successful business and the financial emancipation it gives her. Not that the divorce package wasn’t favorable. It’s a conversation intertwined with how restricting her marriage was.
“My children flipped,” Sutton revealed of her divorce
The RHOBH star stayed at home with the children and relied on her then husband, Christian Stracke, for money. It’s clear Sutton wanted to make major changes now and have a career of her own.
During a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Sutton spoke about her divorce and shared how her children, Porter, James, and Philip, dealt with it.
“Well, divorce is not fun,” Sutton shared. “Christian and I, when we separated and then later got divorced, my children flipped. They all just started crying.”
Her daughter intuited the marital problems and asked her mother. Sutton recalled, “‘Does this mean you’re getting a divorce?’ And we didn’t know. Of course, like, the next day, Christian filed for divorce. So, thanks for that.”
Sutton initiated the separation for the sake of peace in the home. But Christian ended up filing for divorce.
“I was the one [who] asked Christian to separate, to get out of the house. Because I thought, ‘This is gonna turn into World War III,'” Sutton explained. “And so I thought, if he gets out of the house, we can start therapy and do that. I think he was so angry at me [that he filed].”
Fortunately, it all seems to have been for the best.
