Love Island All Stars may have only just premiered, but the series has already suffered its first casualty. It’s been reported that Jake Cornish has quit the show within just 24 hours of the premiere going out, after being coupled up by the public with his ex, fan-favorite Liberty Poole. “I don’t hate the girl,” he told host Maya Jama when the public’s decision was revealed. But, it turns out the villa was becoming too much for him, and he’s taken the back exit.

“Jake was really shocked to see Liberty in the villa,” an insider told The Sun. “They had no idea the other person would be there. It was clear from the start they wouldn’t get back together, then none of the girls wanted to step forward for him.”
It’s true that none of the other women in the villa seemed to fancy Jake. He and Toby Aromolaran were left standing alone when the ladies were asked to stand next to the guy they fancied the most from initial impressions. Jake has never been one to embrace a bruised ego. Turns out that this was one slap to the masculinity he couldn’t live down.
The source continued: “Jake had a nice three days in the villa and had a very emotional chat to Maya Jama. Jake couldn’t stay in the villa so he quit the show – it’s not his time and it’s not the right time to find love.”
Honestly, it was a shock to see Jake return to the villa for All Stars in the first place. He had previously slammed the format and broadcaster ITV for “manipulating scenes.” He said editing had “painted” him as a “villain.”
“They’ve got to make storylines but it isn’t nice when you’re on the back end,” he said at the time. Perhaps the allure of a rehabbed image and more fame proved to be too much.
Love Island All Stars continues 9pm on ITV2, streaming on ITVX. The series is expected to be available to stream on Peacock in the near future.
