Brock Davies popped onto the scene during Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules as Scheana Shay‘s boyfriend. The Good as Gold singer hasn’t been known to pick the best of men, so fans were skeptical at best. The Australian rugby player had a sob story as he shared that he left his ex-wife and children back in Oz to try and make it big in the States. The professional sporting gig didn’t pan out, leaving fans questioning why he never returned home. Since that fateful moment, Brock had an uphill battle when it came to winning over fans.
Why Doesn’t Brock See His Children?
During Season 9, Brock admitted that he had lost the privilege of seeing his children because he had stopped paying child support. Not a good look, bro. While speaking out on his now-wife’s podcast, Scheananigans, he shared that he felt the repercussions of his actions, revealing, “There is a side of me that just wants to fight hard to see them. But then there is another side that reminds me this is a tough balancing act.”
Brock is learning that “Actions have consequences.” Even though Brock broke down in tears, some Vanderpump Rules fans aren’t buying what he is selling and still demand that he be burned at the stake for his past wrongdoings. While he is a great dad to Summer Moon, his daughter with Scheana, he seems to have dropped the ball with his first two children and may never get a second chance with them.
Brock Can Be Self-Righteous
The Aquaman wannabe hasn’t earned a gold star from many fans when it comes to how he interacts with other cast members. Season 9 showed Brock at his worst as he reacted horribly to Lala Kent when she shared that Randall Emmett had cheated on her. Instead of showing empathy, he quipped, “Cool story, bro,” which disgusted fans. Regardless of your opinion of Lala, she had been cheated on and left to be a single mother. Let’s face it: Brock is a payroll husband.
Even though he has changed a little, Brock comes across as holier-than-thou, thinking he is the best person to give others advice. He has quickly judged everyone else’s bad behavior but often forgets that he isn’t squeaky clean himself. The fact that he would often share his thoughts about past events that he wasn’t even a part of was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. Some viewers couldn’t wash the ick off themselves after he was brought onto the series.
Brock Doesn’t Always Read the Room
Now, not everyone is perfect when it comes to asking for favors or timing, but Brock just seems to ignore social cues altogether. This trait has rubbed everyone wrong as fans have had to refrain from pulling their hair out in frustration. Season 9 showed Brock trying to promote his fitness app, but instead of trading favors or paying his friends, he just assumed that everyone would be happy to promote his venture for free. James Kennedy was livid with the idea since Brock was infringing on how the cast made their money outside the show.
Brock had another faux pas when he posted a plug under Lala’s baby workout post, writing, “Baby workout @homebodyapp lol.” Honestly, it’s like he isn’t even trying to stay out of trouble. The move was seen as embarrassing and thirsty and fans took to the comments to try and humble Brock.
Looking For a Come-Up
The demotion for Season 10 screamed volumes to Brock, who actually came across as better-behaved. Whether it was the lack of screen time or taking a look inward, I have found myself hoping he gets a second chance to impress. He has become close friends with Lala and the rest of the cast, too. Scheana was always boy-crazy, but I dare say the two were actually meant for one another, warts and all.
However, for some fans, Brock will never get in their good graces because, to them, he is insufferable. They don’t like how Scheana tries to paint him as a great father, knowing he abandoned two of his children. While I am not one of them, some fans are only sticking around for what they believe is an inevitable divorce. Fans who still enjoy hating on Brock, think he and Scheana deserve each other, but even more, they deserve the messy divorce they will ultimately have. Prove us wrong, Brock!
