While Kathryn Dennis had loads of troubles on Southern Charm, she doesn’t need the show to have drama. Some fans figured being out of the spotlight might help to settle her troubled waters, but controversy seems to always find a way back to her front door.
Most recently Kath has been accused of a hit-and-run in front of an elementary school. In October 2023, a deputy sheriff was almost mowed down while holding a giant STOP sign. A car traced back to Kathryn was similar to the one involved in the incident, but no charges were filed. Now the mom of two speaks out and is denying her part in the early-morning drama. Radar has the scoop.
The Ford Bronco damage was old – allegedly
Apparently, Kathryn advised authorities investigating the accident she was at home the morning Michelle Ward had a run-in with a very large truck. But the same investigators observed “fresh” damage to her 2022 Ford Bronco. Additionally, there were pics of the vehicle’s license plate taken by witnesses on the scene, but sometimes important details disappear in the South …
The deputy was injured in both her hand and foot and a bystander “chased down the Bronco and got the full tag.” So you would think this would be pretty simple to solve, right? Wrong.
Nothing has happened to Kathryn and Michelle is sitting around wondering how people can get nearly run over with no consequences for the driver. Kathryn’s denial was revealed only when investigators and the big guys at South Carolina Highway Patrol had to deal with the press after the news hit the media.
Per an email from Lt. Chadwich A. Pearson, “She [Kathryn] showed him (the trooper) her vehicle which matched the description given. The tag number matched, and the vehicle matched the one seen on the school video.”
“Ms. Dennis claimed neither her nor her vehicle had left the property all day,” the message continued. “There appeared to be fresh damage on the passenger’s side mirror. Consistent with striking the stop sign that was in the Deputy’s hand. Ms. Dennis stated her vehicle did have damage on it but all damage on it was from old events.”
The evidence seems pretty clear
Surveillance videos from businesses in the area spotted the Bronco passing by were “not close enough to make out the driver.” Oh okay, the tags matched and the dents are on the car but whatever.
“At this time there is sufficient evidence to say that is the vehicle involved but there is insufficient evidence to place a driver behind the wheel at this time,” the email concluded.
Right. So I’ll be back after I pick up my eyeballs that have rolled all the way out of my head. In the interim, catch the Southern Charm Season 9 Part 2 reunion, Thursday, January 18, at 8/7c on Bravo.
TELL US – WHO RAN DOWN THE DEPUTY SHERIFF???
