Heather Gay’s black eye story has been … odd. Heather’s most recent claim was that Jen Shah gave her the shiner, but that would seem to contradict the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star’s previous accounts. In 2021, just after Heather got the black eye, she claimed she and one other person knew how it happened.
At this time, Jen was awaiting her trial over the fraud charges that would ultimately incarcerate her. Later, Heather changed the story, saying she was far too drunk to remember. Now, Jen has been named as the culprit.
The RHOSLC Season 4 reunion promises some concrete answers during Part 3. Until then, The Bravo Docket podcast co-host Angela Angotti has a theory as to why Heather might’ve lied.
Was Heather protecting the Shah family by lying about her black eye?
During an interview with Us Weekly, Angela explained her theory regarding Heather’s black eye. In regards to Jen, she said, “When you’re out on bond, especially on federal charges, a part of your bond conditions is you can’t commit additional crimes. So, if she had caused bodily injury to someone, that could potentially be a big problem for her in her pretrial hearings.”
Angela continued, “They [prosecutors] could say, ‘Well, this person is out acting erratically, drinking and hitting people. We think her bond should be revoked.’” But that would be only the beginning of Jen’s troubles.
As Angela further explained, “They could also try to use the fact that she committed battery while she was pending a federal criminal trial … to argue for an upward departure in the sentencing guidelines, saying she can’t even behave herself when she’s out being filmed.”
She concluded her thoughts by saying, “So, it could have caused a lot of problems for her, and I do think that Heather really does care about Coach [Sharrieff] Shah and Jen’s children. And that would be a bad thing for it to come out.” So, the question now is whether or not Heather truly is this savvy.
