Tom Schwartz Promises ‘Raw’ but ‘Funny’ New Season of Vanderpump Rules

Season 11 previews of Vanderpump Rules show Tom Schwartz admitting to once making out with Scheana Shay in Vegas. AND, perhaps a love triangle involving his ex-Bubba, Katie Maloney.

However, last season was Scandoval. Schwartzy’s BFF, Tom Sandoval, had a sordid, catastrophic affair. Schwartz got caught in lies regarding when he found out and how much he knew about Sandy and Rachel Leviss sneaking around behind Ariana Madix’s back. In the fallout, Schwartz ended up looking like a shady accomplice.

Schwartzy recently shared that the new season has allowed him to exhale a bit, despite some of the chaos he got into.

Tom Schwartz has “a newfound confidence and optimism”

Schwartz talked to The Messenger at the VPR Season 11 premiere party. He believes Season 11 won’t be as heavy as Season 10 was. “I think that was last season. I mean, that was excruciating turbulence with a capital T. Maybe this season is challenging with a lowercase t.” Not sure how that works.

He also gave a characteristically verbose answer about a redemption arc in Season 11.

“I was actually reflecting on Season 10 and that whole year before, and I was disappointed with myself for the way I handled a lot of adversity. A lot of pain without gain, you know what I mean? A lot of unnecessary suffering and dwelling on worst case scenario hypotheticals.”

“I just honestly fell apart the past few years. I’m not terribly proud of myself … but because of it, I feel stronger. I’ve kind of reframed the situation, and I have this newfound confidence and optimism like I haven’t had in a long time,” he mused.

According to Schwartz, it’s a season with “a lot of heart, a lot of emotional hooks, but it’s still funny. I don’t want people to get turned off.”

Tom’s grateful for his friend group, despite the ups and downs.

As he eagerly anticipated better days on Vanderpump, Tom took a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

“The past few days, I’ve been going through all my old pictures and just, first of all, being grateful, thinking how lucky we are to have been on a TV show for 11 seasons,” he shared.

He thinks that the show is so successful because of the cast’s longstanding, genuine friendships. ” We’ve been there for each other through the worst moments, the best moments, and everything in between, and I’m hyped for the season.”

Even though Tom says there are “some moments I’m not terribly proud of,” it’s not all gloom and doom. “It’s got a lot of heart. It’s so raw. Verve is the word I’ve been using. It’s raw, it’s got a lot of heart, a lot of emotional hooks, but it’s still funny. I don’t want people to get turned off.”

Will Schwartz finally become less co-dependent with Sandoval this season? Let’s not get too optimistic.

VPR returns to Bravo on Tuesday, January 30 at 8/7c.
