Dr. Terry Dubrow Says ‘There Are No Heavy Housewives’ After Ozempic Craze

Dr. Terry Dubrow has a unique vantage point when it comes to beauty and weight loss trends. He’s a famed plastic surgeon AND stars alongside his fancy-pants wife, Heather Dubrow, on The Real Housewives of Orange County. For as long as the Real Housewives have been around, so has their tendency toward superficiality.

The aesthetic that began long ago with dueling Sky Tops on RHOC has seemingly evolved into drastic weight loss across all franchises. Lately, several Housewives have shrunk right before our eyes. Terry says it’s due to the Ozempic craze. You don’t say?

Terry Dubrow: Because of Ozempic, “there are no heavy Housewives anymore”

Terry admitted to using Ozempic himself before quitting so he could enjoy food (onion rings?) again. He also stars in a show set around his own plastic surgery practice, Botched. He chatted with The Messenger about the “medical miracle” Ozempic and its popularity among Bravolebrities, pointing out, “There are no heavy Housewives anymore, if you’ve noticed that.”

A handful of Housewives have openly acknowledged using Ozempic, with RHOC star Emily Simpson revealing her one-month usage in December 2022 during an episode of Jeff Lewis Live. Emily shared that it aided in a weight loss of five to seven pounds, but she discontinued it due to feeling lethargic.

Other Real Housewives like Heather Gay and Dolores Catania have also discussed their use of Ozempic or other semaglutide variations to slim down.

Kyle Richards has been accused of using it during her intense health and wellness journey, but she vehemently denies it.

Ozempic has led to a business boom for Dr. Terry

Many might assume that Ozempic use would lead to a drop in business for plastic surgeons since taking the drug could be an alternative to liposuction for some. However, Terry says it’s actually created a business boom.

He called the drug a “medical miracle,” noting its positive impact on the practice he shares with his partner/ex-The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband, Dr. Paul Nassif.

Terry explained, “It seems to be leading to a much more rapid loss of skin elasticity. That’s why you’re seeing Ozempic body, Ozempic face, and that’s why the hottest trends are and are going to continue to be procedures to tighten facial skin both with a scalpel and non-invasively.”

Terry added, “Because we do lots of facelifts and skin procedures … [it’s] just going to make plastic surgery go through the roof.”

He asserted that some questions about Ozempic and other semaglutide drugs as they pertain to weight loss remain. “We don’t really understand it completely. And we’re just learning. Even though it’s been FDA-approved for diabetics for a long time, we’re just learning that you can and people do use it for minimal amounts of weight loss. It’s blowing up everywhere.”

Botched airs on Thursday nights at 10/9c. on E! and streams the next day on Peacock. RHOC should return later this year to Bravo.
