The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 has finally come to an end, and boy was it a doozy. Everyone at this point should be aware of Monica Garcia and her Season 4 takeover. Now, she’s got some reflections on her mother, Linda Darnell.
Monica’s strained relationship with Linda became one of Season 4’s defining features. While viewers initially found Monica’s animosity toward Linda to be way over the top, it soon became clear that she had a reason for such animosity.
Even after the Reality Von Tease scandal broke and fans found out Monica had been pulling strings, it seemed Linda was doing plenty of string-pulling as well. With the season now concluded, here are Monica’s thoughts on Linda’s role during her run on RHOSLC.
Monica shares the upside of having mom Linda on RHOSLC
In an interview with The Cut, Monica spoke on the choice to bring Linda onto the show. She explained, “My mother is very up and down. When we started filming, we were in an okay place. I wanted the opportunity to show my Portuguese side, with my grandmother and my mom, and the fact that they literally lived 10 seconds away.”
Of course, things went south. As Monica put it: “But as you saw, it went badly so fast – and that’s very, very accurate for how it actually is in my real life with her, on a daily basis, in our relationship. My mother and I have been through a lot. Truly hell and back.” However, Monica was able to find some bright spots amid all the “hell.”
She concluded her thoughts on Linda by sharing, “I’m actually shocked at how many people are in the same exact situation. I felt alone with my mother, like I was the only person who had a mother like this. The show showed me that there are so many more people who deal with this kind of dynamic, and I think it was very cathartic for me as well as for the fans.”
