Kathy Hilton Defends Daughter Paris From Mom-Shaming Trolls

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kathy Hilton is proud of her daughter Paris Hilton. She’s not going to let mom-shamers make her feel bad as Paris learns how to navigate the new world of parenthood.

Looks like that momma bear instinct doesn’t go away just because your babies are all grown up. Kathy told US Weekly that she has really enjoyed seeing Paris with her new little ones. Paris shares a son, Phoenix, and daughter, London, with her husband, Carter Reum.

Public Criticism

In many ways, Paris’ public life has always been an invitation for trolls to invade her privacy. Now mom-shaming has become quite common for her as many folks online have opinions about how she’s raising her kids.

One incident was when Paris and Kathy were diapering Phoenix, and he started peeing, which went all up in Paris’ face, and she asked her mom, “Why didn’t you warn me about that?” It’s a fair question for a first-time boy mom.

However, the incident did incite some public criticism. During the second season of Paris in Love, Paris said she learned to change her son Phoenix’s diaper “for the first time” well over a month after he was born via surrogate.

She was slammed on social media for being a stand-off parent, but she took it in stride and claimed it was just a joke and that she had obviously changed his diaper the night she brought him home.

“When it comes to being a mom, I’m fully involved and loving every moment of it,” Paris said.

Cut the new mom some slack

Kathy came to her daughter’s defense and shared that all new moms need some help, and there’s a bit of a learning curve.

“When I had Paris, my mother came and helped me for three weeks,” Kathy shared. And after her own ups and downs as a parent, she added, “I totally understood where Paris was coming from during her first few months of motherhood.”

Kathy added that she’s even gotten her share of backlash for her involvement with her grandkids. But she’s not letting it get to her. And mom-shamers aside, Kathy shared that Paris is doing a great job as a mom.

Definitely no judgment. Motherhood is a hard, full-time gig, and many moms learn as they go.
