Ariana Madix isn’t the only Vanderpump Rules star to land a Lifetime movie. Tom Sandoval also has a new Valentine’s Day-themed thriller, Tall, Dark and Dangerous, premiering February 8.
In an interview, Tom shared that he quit ahead of Pump Rules Season 11, after the fallout of last season’s events. The mood at the Season 10 reunion reflected “the most divided our cast of friends has ever been.”
Tom discussed his new movie and how he’s hoping to move on from Scandoval.
Sandoval almost quit Pump Rules after “a hell of a journey”
In a sitdown with Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover on Access Daily, Tom said he was looking forward to the VPR Season 11 premiere. As Kit said, “2023 was quite the year for you. Where are we in 2024? Have we come out of all of that?”
“We’re getting there,” the worm (now without the mustache) responded. “That’s why I’m really excited about the premiere, because the sooner the show airs, the sooner we can get through it … It was very intense.”
Mario shared that his wife watches the show, and he was walking through the living room during the Season 10 reunion. “Why are they yelling at that poor dude so much?” he finally asked her. “What’s going on?”
When she filled him in on the details, Mario commented, “Has everybody else lived, like, a perfect life? Are they all angels?”
I’m not surprised at his reaction. Mario Lopez’s first wife, Ali Landry, had their marriage annulled after only two weeks in 2004 when photos surfaced of him getting “too friendly” with a woman at his bachelor party. Of course, he would take Tom’s side. Cheaters stick together.
While admitting that his co-stars were “entitled to their feelings,” Tom added, “This upcoming season was a hell of a journey. 2023 was the longest year of my life, for sure. It was intense.”
Tom debated returning to the show
“Was there a chance that you didn’t go back or did you not want to go back?” Kit asked.
“There was a point in time where I was like, ‘I can’t do this,'” Tom confessed. “It was a lot.”
Kit made the point that while most of us watch reality TV as entertainment, the events of Pump Rules are “your real life … That had to be incredibly difficult. How did you get through it?”
Tom decided, “I’m just gonna show up, and I’m gonna take it. And I did. At the reunion … I took it for hours … Then I went to BravoCon. I had, like, 5000 people there booing me.” He added that he went on tour with his band and had to face people wearing a “worm with a mustache” shirt.
Though I’m nowhere near taking Tom’s side, I am getting a little tired of Saint Ariana. She didn’t deserve what he did to her, but it’s time for everybody to stop kicking Sandoval and just move on.
Vanderpump Rules airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
