It’s been nearly ten years since Gretchen Rossi graced our screens on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Since exiting the show, she settled down with Slade Smiley and they had a daughter named Skylar. She’s come a long way since getting “naked wasted,” and running around with the likes of Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson, but she hasn’t forgotten about her days as a Real Housewife.
Gretchen recently sat down on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast with RHOC producer Alex Baskin, and she had a full-on retrospective about her time on the show. When dishing about her tenure on reality television, she was presented with the question of what made her a good Housewife. She had the perfect answer. She explained, “My presence alone just pissed people off.”
Once a Housewife, always a Housewife
On the podcast, Gretchen laughed about how her ability to piss people off made for great television. She said it always felt entertaining to walk into a room and watch people lose their marbles. But, what was it about Gretchen’s presence that made everyone so irritated? According to her, it was sheer jealousy from the other Housewives.
“I think that I’m just a happy person, and it takes a lot to take me down, and I think that irritates them,” Gretchen explained.
“I think it just comes down to jealousy,” Gretchen continued. “They literally were angry with me that I was happy.”
The RHOC alum acknowledged that she probably would have never said that ten years ago. However, spending time away from the show gave her some much-needed perspective on the ladies. She theorized that if she were to ever make a comeback to RHOC, fans would see a completely different side to her.
“There’s so much now that I would want people to see of what our lives are,” Gretchen shared. “We’re such different people than we were ten years ago.”
