In some news that won’t shock you, the $1 million settlement Todd and Julie Chrisley recently won has magically disappeared. Aw, just like old times! Here’s the deal, the jailed couple received big money from the state of Georgia after winning a lawsuit. The federal government wanted the $1 million but the Chrisleys say it’s all gone now.
Hopefully they’re telling the truth because lying about finances is partly what landed them in the slammer. Currently, the attorney for the family is doing the most by speaking to the press to provide explanations. We might not care but the feds definitely do. Radar has the scoop.
The money is gone, but not forgotten – allegedly
T and J’s lawyer is doing some fast talking about the $1 million settlement they recently won. According to the attorney, the money was immediately put towards the couple’s multiple debts.
As soon as the government learned Todd and Julie received the payout, they began proceedings to seize the $1 million. Apparently the law firm representing the Chrisley Knows Best alums might have been holding the money, but they deny those allegations.
Now the lawyer is saying only about $30k of the $1 million remains and the feds should have acted faster if they wanted to intercept the funds. The $30k is in a trust account that he controls.
Per the counsel, Todd has “100% interest in the $29,932.32 held in the trust account.” The attorney also noted he has “no other property” of Todd and Julie’s after their surprising win. While both parties are incarcerated, they initiated a lawsuit in 2019 against the former director of the Department of Reveune’s special investigations unit, Joshua Waites.
Joshua may or may not have gotten up close and personal with the daughter Todd and Julie don’t speak to, Lindsie Chrisley. The state of Georgia sided with the criminals and awarded them the $1 million.
In court, Todd and Julie advised the feds the payout had been allocated to their numerous creditors. “This money did not go directly to either Todd or Julie, however, and neither of them have received any funds from the settlement. But numerous debts they previously owed,” the lawyer stated.
Todd and Julie were ultimately convicted of bank and wire fraud in 2022. They owe $17 million in restitution to several banks in addition to the jail time the couple received.
TELL US – DO YOU BELIEVE THE $1 MILLION WENT TOWARDS THE CHRISLEYS’ DEBTS?
