Fans had high hopes when Monica Garcia joined the cast of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City for Season 4. She was funny, relatable, and didn’t shy away from drama. Viewers fully expected to see the brunette beauty next season. However, Monica’s RHOSLC reign came crashing down in the finale when Heather Gay revealed that the newbie was the mastermind behind the Instagram troll account Reality Von Tease. The Instagram page was responsible for spreading rumors about the cast and their families. Once the group turned on Monica, her days on the show were numbered.

After filming the reunion, the newcomer was let go from the network, joining a select group of women who were given the boot after one season as a Real Housewives cast member. Monica certainly sticks out compared to the other one-season wonder housewives. She wasn’t let go because she was boring or lacked a compelling storyline—quite the opposite.

While she may be controversial, she made great TV. Here are all the reasons Monica is the best one-season wonder housewife.

To thrive on Real Housewives, you have to click with the ladies. There are feuds, of course, but you must gel with at least one cast member to survive. Prior to the finale, Monica had successfully integrated herself into the group. The ladies even planned a girls’ trip to celebrate her birthday. She was starting to become a part of the group. Lisa Barlow was never a fan, but she won over some of the women.

Unlike other one-season wonders like Cindy Bishop and Quinn Fry, her introduction to the show didn’t feel forced. Monica felt like a natural addition. She knew Jen Shah and Angie Katsanevas, which certainly helped her relate to the other women. And most importantly, she tried. She tried to create a space for herself within the group. Not all newbies can say that.

Monica may be sneaky, but she’s not boring. The RHOSLC star showed up on day one and revealed she was a government witness in Jen’s case and shared she had a months-long affair with her brother-in-law. Woah. Bravo fans love mess and Monica was ready to give it to them.

The Utah native also opened up about her complicated relationship with her mother, Linda Darnell. Monica and Linda’s dynamic wasn’t like anything else we’ve seen on Real Housewives. While at times hard to watch, fans appreciated her openness in sharing a difficult part of her life.

Monic Brought the Drama

Oftentimes, newcomers will take a backseat rather than involve themselves in drama, but that was not the case with Monica. She was all about the drama. There was never a dull moment, from her blowup fight with Angie at Greek Easter to wreaking havoc at Heather’s book celebration.

Most one-season wonders don’t have iconic moments, but Monica had multiple despite only being on a one-season. That’s an impressive feat.

Monica Had Great Confessionals

Monica was the queen of confessionals in Season 4. She always had something shady to say about the women, from dissing her co-star’s fashion faux-pas to revealing Jen never had anything good to say about Heather.

For someone who hadn’t been on reality TV before, Monica was a natural in front of the camera, and her confessionals were extremely entertaining. You don’t have to kill it in the confessionals to be a compelling Housewife, but it certainly helps.

The RHOSLC Season 4 finale is the most talked about Bravo moment of 2024. Heather dropping the bomb about Reality Von Tease went mega viral on social media and inspired countless jokes and memes. You have to be living under a rock to not know about, “Receipts, proof, timeline, screenshots!” While Heather is the one who delivered the iconic speech, there would be no Reality Von Tease without Monica.

Monica being unmasked as an internet troll has to be one of the most outrageous storylines in the show’s history—and there have been some crazy ones, so that is saying a lot. The whole story was so perfect that it’s hard to believe it wasn’t scripted. Love her or hate her, Monica helped create one of the best episodes in Housewives history. No other one-season wonder can say that.
