Scheana Shay is a polarizing character on Vanderpump Rules as she hasn’t always been a Good as Gold personality. When Scandoval first broke back in March 2023, it was hard to understand why Scheana inserted herself into the drama. Fans had already watched her cause enough damage since she was the main reason Rachel Leviss never respected Katie Maloney.
For multiple seasons, Scheana has been the resident “pick me” girl in the group, always claiming that the other girls dislike her for no reason. Even though Scheana has been growing up, she still loves to play the victim. Maybe Stassi Schroeder had her pegged from the beginning. Now, she is trying to make Ariana Madix‘s heartbreak all about her, and the notion is ludicrous.
In a recent episode of Vanderpump Rules, Scheana yet again sparked controversy for her self-centric take on Scandoval. In Season 11, Scheana condemned Rachel’s actions but seemed more concerned about the temporary restraining order Rachel served her. The whole conversation became fuzzy as Scheana hinted she could forgive Rachel for the affair but not the restraining order. Honestly, Scheana’s math confuses me.
Because Scheana continues to make these sorts of comments, Vanderpump Rules fans continue to call her out for making Scandoval about herself.
Best Friends Forever
Scheana is a total mind fu*k sometimes. For years, the mother of one has literally screamed about how Ariana is her best friend. She loved to remind viewers almost every chance she got. But now it feels like she is trying to befriend Tom Sandoval.
During the Season 10 finale, fans watched as Scheana confronted Tom about his infidelity. At the time, she said she couldn’t be friends with him any longer, even though she acknowledged he had done a lot to help her integrate into the group. But since then, she seems to have prioritized her friendship with Sandoval above supporting Ariana.
Scheana’s tune changed significantly after photos leaked that she stopped by Tom’s hotel during BravoCon 2023. Scheana spoke on her podcast, Scheananigans, noting she was only there to tell “him to shut the f*ck up and stop talking about Ariana.” Scheana went on to share, “Every conversation I’ve had with Tom Sandoval since filming has wrapped has been in defense of Ariana. Literally, I have said to him so many times… ‘Nobody gives a f*ck about A, B, C, or D that you want to complain about… Nobody f*cking cares! Stop.'”
Scheana Stands up for Tom
But how truthful is Scheana actually being? We all know she loves a bit of the limelight; it just seems odd she is gaining coverage by using her best friend’s breakup. Again, on her podcast, Scheana seemed ever so slightly to sing a different tune. “I never thought he was a bad guy,” she now claims.
The comments came after Tom and Scheana were paired in a spiritual healing session this past July. Scheana revealed, “I have personally really struggled with all this because I’m like, yes, you did a really bad thing. But you weren’t a bad friend to me. But then what you have done has affected me, so it’s just changed the entire dynamic of our group.”
Scheana truly needs to learn to read the room. Sure, her friendship with Tom was undoubtedly impacted by Scandoval. However, the impact the affair had on Ariana was far more devastating than the impact the affair had on the VPR friend group. It sucks to lose a friend, but Scheana isn’t gaining any fans by going on about how hard Scandoval has been on her.
Fans Aren’t Buying What She Is Selling
It is infuriating to fans that Scheana once insinuated that she could potentially forgive Rachel for what she did to Ariana because it didn’t directly affect her. Scheana tried to defend her recent comments on the show by sharing on X, formerly Twitter, “That’s NOT what I said. I said ‘if the worst thing she did was fall in love w her bff’ (aka silently in her own head)… NOT have a 7-month affair!!”
Vanderpump Rules fans took to Reddit to share their disdain, with one writing, “I think Scheana is her own worst enemy when she says things in the heat of the moment because it always sounds awful. She seems to be extremely bad at explaining herself when she’s worked up about something.” Another fan wrote, “Scheana is just being Scheana. She does her Scheana things and then has to Scheana it up, backpedal, and explain everything because, apparently, everything needs to be explained.”
I believe Scheana could make a Los Angeles earthquake about her, so I highly doubt her self-involved opinions about Scandoval will ever disappear. All we can do is laugh Scheana off and watch as she infuriates more fans with her silly woe-is-me moments.
