Since 2010, Kyle Richards and her drama have been a staple on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The mother of four has shown how she navigated being a child star, bad relations with her sisters, Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton, and how she has maintained a strong stance while riding the fence when it comes to the other women. RHOBH Season 13 has been one hell of a season for Kyle, who has been struggling with her separation from Mauricio Umansky and rumors that she has found a lesbian lover. With all the drama, has it all become too much for Kyle?
No one would think twice if Kyle left the Bravo show. In fact, I believe some fans would rejoice. Many find her to be a bit two-faced as she is often more than happy to talk about her friends’ drama but not her own. The 55-year-old might just be tired of carrying the coveted diamond, and she could be ready to shelve her Bravo title.
Pros of Kyle Staying
If Kyle chooses to stay on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she will continue to get a Bravo paycheck. This little pay note could be very important, especially if she and Mo pull the trigger on their divorce. Finalizing a divorce can be expensive, and it would behoove Kyle to keep her Bravo cashflow moving, at least until she gets a better handle on her finances.
Kyle probably also faces a lot of pressure from Bravo to stay on the show. With Kyle’s current marital drama, Bravo is likely very eager to keep filming the messy storyline for RHOBH Season 14. It could be hard for Kyle to cut ties with a network that would undoubtedly fight to keep her on the show.
I also genuinely feel that Kyle’s RHOBH castmates care about her, so if something with her marriage went (further) south, I believe the ladies would rally for her. Kyle may be inclined to stay on RHOBH just to maintain the emotional support she receives from the other Housewives.
Pros of Kyle Leaving
However, there are also up sides to Kyle leaving RHOBH. If Kyle chose to walk away from the show, I think she would be able to heal her relationship with her sister Kathy much easier. Kathy has made it very clear she likes her privacy and to keep family matters swept under the rug. As long as Kyle is still on the Real Housewives series, I fear she will never form a close bond with her older sister again.
Another positive attribute of leaving the series would be that Kyle could finally find a serene place to settle. During a recent episode, she noted once her youngest daughter graduated high school, she wanted to get out of Beverly Hills and go to nature (whatever that means.) Kyle could finally get her chance to live in her happiness especially after committing to exercise and living a sober life. Her life would be much different if Kyle were to leave RHOBH, but perhaps that’s exactly what she wants.
Kyle’s Choice
Even though Kyle has stuck it out as a Real Housewives star for the last 14 years, it looks like she may be having second thoughts when it comes to possibly returning for Season 14. “Each year I say, ‘I don’t know. Never say never,’ and all that.” Kyle said in an E! interview. “But, I honestly just don’t know yet. I don’t know where my life is going to be at in a week or two. I don’t know what it’s going to be like when the cameras go up again, where my life is going to be at, and what I’m comfortable with.”
Kyle is really struggling with living in the public eye, sharing, “It feels like everybody wants to know and that they feel they are entitled to every detail of my life because I have been showing my life and sharing my life with everybody for 13 years. It’s not that I’m lying or withholding; I’m figuring it out still.”
Honestly, I am sad for Kyle, who ended the interview by saying, “I don’t have answers. They think I’m teasing them, dragging it out, I’m doing this for ratings. I’m figuring it out right now, and we are figuring it out as a couple, and I’m figuring out what I need myself. And when I know and we know where our life is going next, you’re gonna know.”
I wouldn’t begrudge Kyle if she wanted to take a step back to collect her thoughts. I personally think she has been through the wringer since July between the micro-cheating and rumors. Maybe it is time for Kyle to hang up her Kemosabe hat.
