When it comes to casting Season 3 of The Traitors, host Alan Cumming is shooting for the stars.
While sitting on a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, the exuberant host of streaming’s most-watched unscripted series shared which celebrities he’d like to see play his game. “Beyoncé,” Alan told Deadline, to which executive producer Stephen Lambert replied, “Well, if we’re aiming that high, I’ll have Taylor Swift.”
We’ll take both, please! Plus, another batch of Bravolebs and iconic reality stars committed to stirring up chaos in the Scottish hills to produce another messy season of must-watch television.
Traitors producers reveal what makes a good cast member and who else they’d like to see in Season 3
One of the main differences between Seasons 1 and 2 of The Traitors is that the cast is now entirely made up of celebrities. They come from different reality shows on many other networks, including The Real Housewives, The Challenge, Big Brother, and Survivor. Since there are only three Traitors among the group of 21, alliances form naturally. And according to producers, this is great for the show’s advancement.
“We like having some of the cast having existing relationships,” Stephen Lambert said. “Maybe even an existing animosity because that means that they’re straight in with an attitude and relationship with each other. Whereas if nobody knows anybody, then it takes a while to get going.”
In addition to casting those with pre-existing relationships, Alan hopes Season 3 will include more LGBTQ+ players.
“I feel like we could do better in terms of queer representation in terms of the contestants,” the show’s host told us. “I’ve suggested people, and I think it’s a very diverse cast but not in terms of LGBTQ+.”
