It’s hard to remember now, but there was a point in time when Vanderpump Rules fans had no idea that Tom Sandoval was cheating on Ariana Madix with Rachel Leviss. Scandoval’s shock and staying power came from just how unexpected it all was.
But back when the VPR Season 10 trailer was circulating, there were rumors of an open relationship. These rumors evolved all the more after Scandoval broke and consolidating them is a hard feat at this juncture.
At one point, Tom was accused of telling Rachel that he and Ariana were in an open relationship. At another point, Ariana confirmed that Rachel knew for a fact that monogamy was the name of the game for her and Tom. With all this confusion, Rachel addressed the comments on her podcast.
Rachel felt “Tom and Ariana were extra lovey” with her
On the February 20 episode of her podcast, Rachel addressed the discussion over Tom and Ariana’s “open relationship.” She said, “Tom and Ariana were extra lovey towards me, and so when I told Nema [Vand] this experience, what I said was, ‘Tom and Ariana give off an open relationship vibe,’ and he was like, ‘Oh, that’s interesting. Do you think they’re in an open relationship?’”
She continued, “And I was like, ‘No, I don’t think that they are, but it was a weird energy.’ And he said, ‘Do you think Tom is interested in you like that?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, it felt like he was,’ then he said, ‘Would you act on that?’ And I said ‘No. I would be more likely to hook up with Ariana than I would with Tom.’” Oh, how the turning tables tabled. Granted, Rachel almost certainly recognized the irony.
On the one hand, it’s not hard to imagine a reality star’s words taken out of context. That sort of thing happens all the time, whether by fans or editors. On the other hand, this is Rachel we’re talking about. Rachel and Tom haven’t been shy about rewriting history. More than anything, they want control of the narrative, and understandably so. Everyone sees them as the bad guys.
