Summer House Season 8: Why Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard Miss the First Weekend

Season 8 of Summer House premieres February 22 on Bravo. The housemates kicked off the season with a bang, throwing a Fourth of July blowout.

But two of the main cast members were missing. Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard, still engaged at the time, were absent from the festivities. Turns out they were invited to celebrate the Fourth at another very famous house: the White House in Washington, D.C.

Buddy Kyle Cooke explains in the clip below why Linds and Carl chose to skip the first weekend at the house to hang out with the President and his family. Driving out to the Hamptons, Kyle breaks the news that Carl and Lindsay will be M.I.A. “Mom and Dad are in D.C. this weekend,” Kyle tells newcomer West Wilson.

Summer House goes to the White House

Further on in the clip, the couple is packing in their NYC apartment. Lindsay shares that they’re going to Washington, D.C., for an event at the White House. “I’m kind of excited we’re going to the White House on the 4th of July,” she tells Carl. “I mean, who gets invited to the White House? We do!”

What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to celebrate our country’s birthday at the Presidential residence! They have one of the biggest fireworks displays in D.C.

“My best friend Dannia is a powerhouse publicist in D.C.,” Lindsay explains in a production interview. “She got us an invite to the White House. So I’m excited for this little break from wedding planning … and from the [Summer House].”

Even though he was excited to be going to the White House, Carl had a slight case of FOMO. “I mean, it’s definitely a little bittersweet,” he admitted. “How many summers have we been doing the 4th of July in the Hamptons?”

“Like, more than I can count,” Lindsay says.

They may have missed the first weekend, but they had the rest of the summer with their friends. And it may have been their last, at least as a couple. Carl ended the engagement at the end of the season, just a few weeks before their wedding. The breakup was captured on camera so viewers can share every uncomfortable minute when the final episode airs. The fireworks may rival what they saw in D.C.

Summer House Season 8 premieres February 22 at 9/8c on Bravo.
