Andy Cohen has been the King of Bravo since the inception of the Real Housewives franchise back in 2006. He’s been the face of the network for years now. Many viewers think he has strong connections with most of the series stars and often delivers lip service for ratings. The Boston University graduate is a social butterfly who comes off witty and humorous. He has friends in high places, including Anderson Cooper, who he hosts a New Year’s Eve show with. So, it seems that the father of two is pretty well-liked.
However, we are now hearing about a different side to Andy, and it is a bit worrisome. Bethenny Frankel was the first to really call out her old boss. However, now it seems as if more and more former housewives are coming out with their own nightmare stories. I wonder if Andy is curled up in a corner rocking away with his homemade burn book or if he is cool as a cucumber as he takes a shot ski in the clubhouse?
What We Know
What feels like out of left field, Andy has come under attack by what some would consider agitated former housewives. Leah McSweeney is the latest former Bravo personality to jump on the bandwagon of filing lawsuits against Andy, Bravo Media, NBC Universal Media, Warner Bros. Discovery, production company Shed Media US, and individual producers.
In the 109-page document, via The New York Times, which was filed in the Southern District of New York, Leah alleged that she was subjected to a “rotted” workplace culture. The lawsuit also accused the defendants of failing to establish a safe working environment for her disabilities, which included her “alcohol use disorder” and “mental health disorders.”
Andy’s Drug Use Accusations
Perhaps one of the biggest bombshells aimed at Andy was the accusation of drug use. Leah threw out a series of allegations at the Executive Producer. She claimed the father of two engaged in “cocaine use with Housewives and other ‘Bravolebrities’ that he employs.” Leah also added Andy had a “proclivity for cocaine usage with his employees.”
Leah went as far as to note in the court documents that “Cohen tends to provide the Housewives with whom he uses cocaine with more favorable treatment and edits. Cohen intentionally uses cocaine with his employees to further promote a workplace culture that thrives off drug and alcohol abuse, which leads to a failure to accommodate employees who are disabled and attempting to remain substance-free.”
Leah’s lawsuit contains serious claims against Andy, and it could become a major thorn in his side.
Kathy Comes Calling
After the Leah lawsuit came to light, I was instantly taken back to a 2017 video with Kathy Griffin. She claimed that Andy had once offered her the white powder. During the video, Kathy called Andy a “miserable boss” who lived to “take women down.”
Kathy then shared that right before a performance of Watch What Happens Live while in Embassy Row, Andy privately asked, “If I wanted to do blow.” Kathy laughed, saying she thought he was kidding. However, the second time she appeared on the show, Kathy claimed the same thing happened. “Once again we are alone in the office, and he’s like ‘you wanna do some coke?’ And I’m thinking he is serious” the comedian said.
Kathy’s accusations are unsubstantiated, but many fans can probably picture them being true.
Brandi Fires Shots
Brandi Glanville’s lawyers sent a letter to Warner Bros., NBC Universal, and Shed Media, which alleged that Andy had sent Brandi recorded messages noting he wanted to have sex with a certain Bravo star in 2022. The letter, via The Blast read, “Ms. Glanville herself has been a victim of sexual harassment at Bravo by none other than Andy Cohen. In a video sent by Mr. Cohen to Ms. Glanville in 2022, Mr. Cohen—appearing obviously inebriated—boasted of his intention to sleep with another Bravo star that night while thinking of her and invited her to watch via Facetime.”
Andy has already issued an apology. He claimed the video was a joke, noting on X, “The video shows Kate Chastain and I very clearly joking to Brandi. It was absolutely meant in jest, and Brandi’s response clearly communicated she was in on the joke. That said, it was totally inappropriate, and I apologize.”
