Brittany Cartwright recently shared the news that she and her husband, Jax Taylor, are living separately after a rocky year of marriage.
“Listen, I love Jax so much. I really do,” she told TMZ during a recent chat. “I just want the best for me and my son at this point. So that’s like my main focus. But for sure, if he switches some things and changes some things about his life, then maybe we can get back together. But right now, I don’t know.”
Brittany told her listeners about the split in an episode of her podcast, When Reality Hits, telling the fans that she’s “taking time apart” from her reality star husband. “I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still very hard to talk about, and I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds, but right now, my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz.”
Brittany said Jax isn’t doing enough to fight for their marriage
Later, during her conversation with the paparazzi, Brittany revealed that Jax hadn’t taken many steps to improve their current situation. “It’s Jax, so he’s not really trying that much right now,” she said. “I mean, I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things and nothing has come from that yet. We’ve been together for nine years now, so…”
Jax and Brittany’s new reality show, The Valley, which follows them and a group of their friends “adulting” after many years in the streets of Los Angeles, will premeire on Bravo in the coming weeks. So, is Brittany’s split with Jax a ploy to get us to watch?
“Absolutely not. This is definitely for my mental health,” she said about living apart from Jax. “I think that’s been one of the hardest parts right now is that people are speculating that I’m doing something for this show coming out.”
She later added that after the incessant fighting with the Vanderpump Rules OG, there was only so much she could take. “… I deserve better, Cruz deserves better,” she said. “We want a good co-parenting relationship and I think that me moving out and taking space to figure out if this is what I want is the best situation for me right now.”
The Valley premieres on Bravo on March 19 at 9/8c.
