For reality TV fans, especially of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it is usually pretty entertaining to watch a couple fall from grace. I find some of us actually root for the demise of a marriage. However, watching Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky struggle over this last season has been absolutely heartbreaking.
This was the mom and dad of the series- the couple everyone looked to to make it. However, 27 years of love and respect wasn’t enough to keep these two together, as they admitted to their separation in July 2023. Is it the end of an era? It just feels like they don’t have the fight left in them.
They Live Separate Lives
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans keep thinking this divorce is a stunt. While I could see how they might have dreamed up such an alluring PR stunt, I can’t imagine either one would actively choose to put their children through the trauma. Also, the big red flag that the end is near is the fact that Kyle and Mauricio are living very separate lives. Even though the couple currently live under the same roof, that hasn’t stopped either one from living their own lives.
Mauricio has been snapped partying it up in Aspen, shirtless, with girls his daughter’s age. In December, Mau hit the slopes with a nearly naked Lele Pons and singer Anitta. While on Dancing With the Stars, the father of four was also caught holding hands with partner Emma Slater. Kyle hasn’t been an angel, either. And even though she hasn’t admitted to having a relationship with country singer Morgan Wade, many believe she also might have had an emotional affair.
Kyle Lost Trust
I have racked my brain thinking about what could have happened to their marriage. We have all heard about the rumors that Mau had stepped outside of his marriage to find comfort, but both have always denied any infidelity. However, Season 13 has shown Kyle sharing a very different position than in previous years. During her last confessional of the season, Kyle divulged that “things” happened within her marriage to Mau that “made me lose my trust. I wasn’t able to recover.” The revelation sounded extremely ominous as Kyle was left crying in front of producers.
Even though she didn’t go into detail, the wedge was so bad she also admitted, “There’s a big chance that we’re not gonna end up together.” During the Season 13 finale, Kyle spoke with Erika Jayne, sharing, “I think the hardest part about what we’re going through is that there isn’t one big huge thing. That’s the hardest part for me. There’s these things that I’ve been needing and wanting more for my marriage that I just can’t get.” Even though no one knows the real reason, Kyle is definitely giving off vibes that she was given major ick by her husband, and not surprisingly, Mau has stayed pretty quiet.
Pull The Trigger Already
Personally, I believe even though Kyle and Mau are on a reality TV show, it doesn’t entitle us as viewers to know their inner workings. But I do have opinions on the matter. It feels as if both are at a stalemate and refuse to start the paperwork. But if you are saying stuff like you don’t think it will work and you’re living separate lives, I find it hard to believe you are going to work through the issues. I think the love is dead, which must be extremely painful for them both.
However, the trigger needs to be pulled because this won’t be an easy divorce. There will have to be a custody arrangement for their youngest daughter, houses to split, and assets to share. It sounds like a terrible few months, but I think, in the end, that is the road they are choosing to go down. I’m sad about the entire situation and don’t even know them. The white party was a precursor for what was to come: a lot of space from one another.
