Andy Cohen has something to celebrate despite all of the negative attention he’s getting right now. The Real Housewives executive producer has reached the 15-year mark with his late-night talk show, Watch What Happens Live, which first aired in July 2009.
The series airs on weekdays after some of Bravo’s most popular shows, including the Real Housewives, Married to Medicine, Summer House, and many others. The guests are reality stars, athletes, politicians, and sometimes mega A-List celebrities.
So, how does Andy feel about his series looking back on it now?
Andy had to “reenergize” himself after a few seasons of Watch What Happens Live
During a recent interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Andy spoke about the last several years he’s spent hosting WWHL and stirring up some messy moments in the process.
“We got picked up for 12 episodes at midnight, once a week, and here we are. I didn’t expect to go past those 12 weeks, actually. And I kind of hit a wall [in] year five,” he told Kelly. “I was checking boxes, ‘How many shows [do we have left?],’ whatever.”
“I was kind of like, ‘Dude, this is your dream job. This is the greatest thing.’ And I got so reenergized. It was a momentary lapse of reason, and I’ve just been fully back [and] engaged ever since. It’s so fun. I feel so lucky to be able to do it.”
Andy also reflected on some of his favorite guests and mentioned two superstars who appeared in the past. “When Oprah did the show, that was a very big deal for me. The fact that she came downtown, that was a real highlight.” He also mentioned Cher’s episode, adding that she was “amazing.”
