Dorit vs. Kyle: What Went Down at the RHOBH Season 13 Reunion

I don’t know if I ever thought Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards were best friends on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Kyle always seemed a bit more down to earth, which is saying a lot, while Dorit was always late because she wanted to make sure she had the perfect lighting for her selfies. But the Season 13 reunion really highlighted the differences that these two mothers have with one another. I also won’t deny that I enjoyed Dorit being called out since I felt she came across as a lackluster friend this past season.

Kyle hit the nail on the end when she noted that Dorit tries her best to align herself with whoever the audience likes. She is never truly an ally to anyone. It very much felt like an intergalactic standoff with Dorit as some weird-dressing senator from Naboo and Kyle hailing from the Senate. The fashionista had only one shot to secure her diamond. She took it at the expense of her friendship with Kyle. The tension could no longer be contained within the group as masks were removed, and pointy words were not spared.

It started when Dorit revealed a text to Erika Jayne and the rest of production, showing how manipulative Kyle had been. Apparently, the two hadn’t spoken for months. However, conveniently, the night before the reunion, Kyle decided to send a blackmail text to her former friend, encouraging her to keep her mouth shut. I don’t usually back up Dorit, but I think she was smart to use the text as ammo. Kyle should have known better than to send it. I mean, she is an OG. She has walked to walk a few times as a veteran.

Dorit couldn’t help herself as she scolded Kyle. “I know your nature, if I say something that upsets you, you’re a punisher, you’ll shut me out. We hadn’t spoken in a couple months and all of the sudden you text me the day before the reunion, do you really think I’m an idiot?”

Dorit Is Accused of Being a Bad Friend

Listen, I don’t think Dorit is the best of friends to anyone, and that squiggle on her forehead, which is a hairdo, evidently isn’t helping her cause. But let’s call a spade a spade; showing the text to Erika AND production was a major no-no, but I surmise Dorit already knew that. The Beverly Beach founder does tell Kyle she was hurt by the comments she made about downplaying their friendship. However, Kyle tried to explain their friendship is different. It’s not about working out together or hanging out every day, and that is okay.

Is it? I like to talk to my friends at least once a day, so maybe Dorit is on to something here. However, Kyle did reveal she was tired of being poked all season to talk about her private life. Kyle wasn’t thrilled that Dorit had tried to garner a storyline at her “expense,” noting, “You knew that by saying something like that, it was going to create a bigger problem for me in the media with the whole Morgan situation.” Season 13 highlighted Kyle’s friendship with Morgan Wade, and it didn’t help that Dorit played into the rumors, trying to push the blame onto the lesbian rumors already being out in the universe before she said anything.

Doirt Got It for All Ends

It seems no one was a fan of Doirt for the first part of the reunion, as she was eaten alive. And I was here for it. Garcelle Beauvais was up next as she once again tried to explain why the word “attack” was unacceptable. It didn’t help that Dorit was sitting in what I want to call a culturally questionable outfit choice as she tried to defend herself.

Dorit also got an earful from Crystal Kung Minkoff for having used the term “child bride.” Rightfully so, Crystal launched into how offensive that term was, especially to an Asian woman. Dorit just sat there in her “love bubble,” clearly not grasping how bad she had come across this season. I can’t wait to see what part of the reunion brings.
