For eleven seasons, the fashion of Vanderpump Rules has been as chaotic as the cast members’ personal lives. The VPR cast’s reputation for bad decisions has also extended to many of their outfits over the years. To be fair, part of that is due to changing trends. For instance, Stassi Schroeder’s chunky statement necklaces look ridiculous now, but in 2013, they were all the rage.
However, for all the looks that are cringy in hindsight, there are also some diamonds in the rough. Take a walk down memory lane as we look back on the best and worst Vanderpump Rules fashion moments.
Worst – The SUR Uniforms
Pump Rules fans have lots of nostalgia for the era where the whole cast actually worked at SUR. But, wow, every variation of their uniform was an eyesore. To this day, I have no idea what the purple pattern on those black dresses is supposed to be. And the less said about the handkerchief dresses, the better.
Best – Ariana Madix’s Revenge Dress Era
Taking a cue from Princess Diana, Ariana Madix got hearts racing with her bold revenge dress at the Season 10 reunion. After the red-hot number went viral, she landed a whole revenge dress campaign for Bloomingdale’s, and a write up in the New York Times. This particular dress was so iconic, she even referenced it on Dancing With The Stars.
Ariana was always one of the most stylish Vanderpump Rules cast members. But she’s really stepped it up ever since Scandoval, proving that looking good is the best revenge. Personally, my favorite of Ariana’s revenge era looks is the black lace number she wore on Watch What Happens Live.
Worst – Scheana Shay’s Crop Top Wedding Dress
A crop top (or, alternatively, two piece) wedding dress isn’t as rare now as it was in Season 3. So, in some ways, Scheana Shay was ahead of her time. Some crop top designs might still look elegant and chic. But Scheana’s first wedding dress just…didn’t.
Best – Kristen Doute’s Green Dress
Yes, Kristen Doute wearing a low-cut party dress to pick up her mail was super cringe worthy. But the little green number became an iconic look for more than just that reason. She looked great in it- and still does to this day, as it resurfaces in her recent TikToks. And that’s why it’s one of the best Vanderpump Rules fashion moments.
Worst – Brittany Cartwright’s SUR Interview Romper
If Brittany Cartwright wore this tiny lace romper to the club, she’d look cute. But for her first meeting with Lisa Vanderpump? Where she tried to interview for a job at SUR? And didn’t even bring a resume? A major faux pas from the Kentucky Muffin.
Best – Jax Taylor’s Chunky Knit Sweaters
Early on, Jax Taylor was so into chunky knit sweaters that he planned to start his own line. Or, so he claimed. Regardless, Jax’s sweaters became so iconic, that one hangs in Andy Cohen’s clubhouse. I guess we’ll have to see if they make a comeback now that Jax is back on Bravo.
Worst – Jax’s Taco Bell Sweatshirt
Maybe Jax couldn’t find the chunky sweaters in Season 6? Because, when he admitted to cheating on Brittany, Jax wore a gray sweatshirt over a button up. What made this even worse was when he turned around…to reveal a Taco Bell logo on the back. Truly, one of the funniest (but still, worst) Vanderpump Rules fashion moments ever.
Best – Katie Maloney on WWHL
Katie Maloney‘s style is very hit or miss. Honestly, it’s usually more miss than hit. But Katie always looks great in vampy, sexy styles, such as her reunion outfits for Seasons 5 and 7. This WWHL look showed off her newfound confidence and post-Tom Schwartz divorce glow. Season 2’s orange hair aside, Katie’s hair and makeup almost always look incredible, and that’s true here as well.
Worst – Rachel Leviss’ Season 7 Reunion Dress
What WAS this? The dress Rachel Leviss wore for her first reunion might take the cake as the worst Vanderpump Rules fashion moment ever. It was also an early sign that Rachel doesn’t always display the best judgement.
Somehow, Rachel’s sense of style got worse as the seasons went on. Her outfits in Season 10 were almost as bad as her actions. Maybe she took style inspiration from affair partner Tom Sandoval? After all, they did have matching jewelry. And speaking of worst Vanderpump Rules fashion…
Worst – All of Tom Sandoval’s Vanderpump Rules Fashion Moments
Ariana was right to diss those green sequin pants. Sandoval‘s outfits are always embarrassing, obnoxious, and trying too hard. Just like the man himself!
