The Real Housewives shows have certainly produced a number of memorable stars over the years. While some of these women have been fan favorites, others are remembered merely for their bad behavior. On the other hand, however, there are several housewives who are known for being fan favorites while also being quite problematic. While many cast members qualify for this list, these are our official rankings for the five most notorious Real Housewives of all time!
Teresa Giudice (RHONJ)
Lets face it, Teresa Giudice has been iconic since the moment she first flipped the table during Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 1. Teresa never fails to bring the entertainment, and she is certainly one of the more interesting women on RHONJ. Furthermore, Teresa is an OG cast member, as she has been a key part of RHONJ since its first season.
While Teresa is definitely fun to watch, the New Jersey native’s life is not all fun and games. Teresa has come under scrutiny more than once, originally when she was sentenced to jail time for bankruptcy fraud. Teresa’s love life has also turned heads, as her marriages to both Joe Giudice and Luis Ruelas caused some controversy over the years. Recently, Teresa also came under fire for partnering with the controversial clothing company Shein.
NeNe Leakes (RHOA)
NeNe Leakes was arguably the most popular cast member to ever come from Real Housewives of Atlanta. NeNe’s bigger than life personality was infectious, and instantly captivated viewers. There was simply never a dull moment with NeNe, who perfectly captured what the Real Housewives franchise was all about.
Despite initially being a fan favorite, NeNe became more and more controversial over the years. One of NeNe’s most controversial moments was when she grabbed a producer, which many viewers felt was unacceptable. NeNe also came under fire for insensitive comments made both on and off screen. One instance of this was at a comedy show, where NeNe told a woman that she wished her Uber Driver would harass her. What the heck NeNe?
Lisa Vanderpump (RHOBH)
Lisa Vanderpump made her debut on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where she quickly became a fan favorite. LVP was originally so likable for her fun personality and iconic one liners, which made her stand out from her fellow cast members. Only a few seasons into RHOBH, Lisa had enough of a fan base for her to get her own spin-off, the iconic Vanderpump Rules!
While Lisa had a good start to her reality television career, she was not immune to coming under controversy later on in her career. In August 2020, Lisa was sued by one of her former employees for failing to properly pay them overtime. Later on, the lawsuit also accused Lisa of failing to provide proper meal breaks to her staff, and violating several other labor law codes.
Bethenny Frankel (RHONY)
Bethenny Frankel was a breakout star from The Real Housewives of New York, who originally made a great first impression on fans. She initially received praise for her drive, as she owns her own business Skinnygirl, which sells a wide variety of products. Viewers also appreciated Bethenny’s authenticity, as she often came across as more genuine than her fellow cast members.
In recent years, however, Bethenny has come under fire for controversial behavior more than once. One of Bethenny’s most ridiculous scandals involved her offering a TJ Maxx employee her opened make-up products, which was obviously offensive. Bethenny was also confronted over making transphobic comments, which is not a good look for the former RHONY star.
Kim Richards (RHOBH)
Kim Richards was a beloved cast member on RHOBH for her witty humor and absolutely iconic one liners! Despite being a little over the top at times, Kim never failed to deliver with the entertainment while onscreen. As a result, she quickly became a fan favorite who viewers loved watching on RHOBH.
However, Kim was not without her troubles. Kim was eventually fired from RHOBH, due to substance abuse issues. Furthermore, Kim has gotten herself into legal trouble on more than one occasion. Kim was arrested for shoplifting from Target in 2015, as well as for later attacking a police officer.
