Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 13 did not end well. Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice were farther apart than they had ever been. RHONJ Season 14 will have to bring it once and for all. The ongoing drama hit its peak with the women swearing they would never speak again. Between cheating rumors that Luis Ruelas and Teresa started and the hired PI tactics; the entire cast was left questioning the OG’s motives.
Thanks to cast issues, RHONJ missed its normal premiere lineup in the winter. Bravo shared that Season 14 would air in 2024. Hints have been dropped for an April release date, and there is so much to look forward to. Even though the wait for viewers is still at least two months away, there is a lot to unpack. Season 14 has to hit it big with fans who have grown weary of the same formula season after season. I do think it will be extremely interesting to watch how the cast adjusts to the two big hitters refusing to interact, but a lot has to happen to make this season a success.
Teresa vs. Melissa
Since Season 3, Melissa and Teresa have had this unspoken fight that started with jealousy. After rewatching the seasons, it became apparent that Teresa wanted everything Melissa had: a loving husband, a successful career, clean taxes, and her youth back. Instead, Tre was left with Juicy Joe Giudice, who didn’t care about anyone but himself, sprinkle cookies, and a mountain of lies she eventually couldn’t run from.
For the last ten years, viewers have been on a rollercoaster of emotions, and hell, we are ready to get off the ride. Season 14 needs to show a new dynamic between the two women. If the rumors are true, the two have refused to interact, which will make for an interesting series. But we can’t go back to the same old fighting that we’ve seen day in and day out. We need something different. Correction: I could watch another Joenado, aka the hairspray fight in the Catskills, but I doubt I’d be so lucky.
The Cast Clashes
I knew adding a Staten Island native would be trouble since they don’t get hot to be a real Jersey girl (I’m looking at you, Danielle Cabral.) Season 14 is said to have the entire cast picking sides, with more than just Tre and Melis drawing blood. It was reported that Jennifer Aydin and Danielle got into a physical altercation over a shared hairstylist, and Danielle allegedly did not donate money while at a charity event. A red color cup was probably thrown, and I can guess which one of the offenders thought she should act tough. Both women were suspended while Bravo launched an investigation.
This isn’t Jen’s first physical run-in. At BravoCon 2022, she threw a drink at Joe Gorga and lashed out at the couple. The Season 13 reunion also saw Joe and Luis almost get into a physical fight. Even Jackie Goldschneider has pulled away from longtime friends Melissa and Margaret Josephs. Alliances have shifted, which could make for quite an interesting season.
Will Bravo Reshuffle the Cast?
Jennifer and Danielle have quipped that they haven’t been engaging with one another. And the same can be said for Melissa and Teresa. So at what point does Bravo call the series as we know it over? I truly believe that Season 14 will be a telling factor as to whether or not the franchise is given a reboot. If none of the women can get along and aren’t speaking, it would be hard to get good TV moments. Even though the cast has claimed to have a very good season despite the tensions, I am not buying it.
Honestly, I miss the OG Real Housewives of New Jersey, which included the ham game, cross-examinations over magazine articles, and words of wisdom like “engage and then suggest.” Instead, loyal fans have been given the shaft after years of being forced to watch the same storyline day in and day out. So please ladies, let’s make this season interesting, yeah? Or it’s curtains for you.
