Jax Taylor and his wife Brittany Cartwright may be separated, but they have a show to promote. So instead of keeping an iota of privacy, these two longtime reality TV stars have fully leaned into talking about their split as much as possible.
After announcing the breakup right around the time their new Bravo show The Valley was releasing its sneak peek, Jax and Brittany have gotten more press than ever. The couple has given countless (sometimes conflicting) statements about what’s going on.
Jax recently gave People the latest update.
“Marriage is not easy”
“There’s a lot of people going through what I’m going through right now and, marriage is not easy. It’s not, you know. It’s a lot of work and there’s a lot of ups and downs,” said Jax. He then added, “It’s tough, it’s tough, but we’re handling it the best way we can.”
Jax and Brittany married in 2019, which was filmed by Bravo cameras during their time as cast members on Vanderpump Rules. Despite the couple having many “ups and downs” before getting married, Jax and Brittany seemed to be settling down. They bought a house, got fired from the show, and had a kid.
But according to Jax, they had been “going through some things for a while now.” Because of this, he and Brittany decided to take “a little bit of a breather.”
Jax is unsure of what the future holds with Brittany
Brittany seems to have a different take on the matter though. She called their relationship “not healthy” and said she reached her “breaking point.” Said Brittany, “There’s only so much that a woman can take.” Oof.
Regardless of whether or not Brittany is really over Jax, he took on a somewhat hopeful tone. The father-of-one mused, “I’m not sure what the future holds for this, but you know, as of right now, this is just the best-case scenario.”
As for those pesky PR stunt accusations, Jax insists their breakup is “not a publicity stunt” and that viewers of The Valley will see “there’s something going on there” with their relationship on the show. Which doesn’t sound at all like a hook to try and get people to watch, right?
The Valley premieres Tuesday, March 19 at 9/8c on Bravo.
