News of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s separation shocked the Bravoverse. Lisa Vanderpump, however, wasn’t exactly surprised. She tried to take a more layered look at the situation.
Indeed, Brittany and Jax’s split came as a surprise. So much of a surprise that many fans couldn’t help but see it as a ploy to get people watching their upcoming spinoff, The Valley.
The couple started on Vanderpump Rules, with Jax appearing in the very first season alongside Lisa. As such, LVP knows all about Jax’s bad behavior on and off the show, including his history of cheating scandals. So, is that what went down here?
Lisa says everyone close to Jax predicted his split
“Everybody predicted that when they got married,” Lisa told E! News, referring to the split. “They said, ‘Oh this won’t last long,’ but I kind of never liked to draw conclusions.” Uh-huh. Sure, Lisa. You would never say such things yourself, would you? Just this ‘Everybody’ beside yourself.
Lisa reflected on her own marriage, saying, “I know a lot of people say it’s inevitable, but when I walked down the aisle 42 years ago everybody shook their head and said, ‘This would never last.’” She continued, “Ken being a bad boy in London and 16 years older than me. You go into it totally optimistic.”
As for why the split might’ve happened, she admitted, “I don’t know what the reason was, but I imagine it was probably something to do with Jax’s bad behavior. I’m not sure, but the indicator of future behavior is normally past behavior.”
She finished up by lamenting, saying, “It’s a shame when they have a child.” She added, “Marriage isn’t easy and there’s always so many options in Hollywood and excuses and their egos involved. I think nearly everybody I know that was married on reality television has separated, except Ken and I.”
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo. The Valley premieres tonight, March 19 at 9/8c on Bravo.
