Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards can’t take any more family drama. Just as she finally patched things up with her sister, Kathy Hilton, her niece Paris Hilton took offense at comments Kyle’s estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, made about her dad, Rick Hilton.
Mauricio spoke on his Netflix show, Buying Beverly Hills, about feeling unappreciated when he worked at Rick’s firm, Hilton and Hyland. That’s why he left and started his own agency. On March 19, Kyle admitted in an Amazon Live that she hasn’t spoken to her niece about the recent comments she made on social media about Mauricio and his company, The Agency.
“She spoke to her cousins, and they cleared all that up,” Kyle said. “I really was just like, ‘No. Please, no more.’ I can’t handle any more things.”
Paris didn’t want to relive family drama
In a preview of Season 2, which Netflix released earlier this month, Mauricio explained his reasons for exiting Hilton and Hyland. But leaving his brother-in-law’s company and starting his own agency caused a years-long family rift.
“I think I got kind of f*cked by Hilton and Hyland,” he said in a clip. “Today, I’m happy. But, there were 100 agents at Hilton and Hyland. They did $1 billion for the first time a year. I was 19.6 percent of their production.”
In a confessional, Mauricio continued, “I think Hilton and Hyland is an amazing company, and I would never [speak] poorly about them because I don’t think poorly about them. And I am Rick’s brother-in-law. But unfortunately, it got sour because it really affected the family, [my wife] Kyle, more than anybody … Her family stopped speaking to her.”
After the clip was released online, Paris defended her father and questioned her uncle’s choice to re-open family drama.
“My father is a consummate gentleman and has always taken the higher road,” Paris commented. “He would never speak negatively about his family — especially in the press. Frankly, we are all sick of [Mauricio] using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his lame show. It’s enough already.” Her comment has since been removed.
Done with the drama
For her part, Kyle is just hoping for a break from all the drama now that RHOBH Season 13 has finished airing.
“I am just kind of tired of hearing about everything over and over again,” she said. “For me, it was like, ‘Ahh, the reunion is done … I can exhale and relax a little.’ But no … There’s more stuff coming.”
“My family is all in the public eye, and it’s a weird thing,” she added. “I’m on television. My niece is on television, my sister is on television, my family is on television. It’s a lot. What can I say?”
So much public attention has the former child actress questioning her future on reality TV. When asked if she would continue with the Housewives, Kyle responded, “I can’t answer that today … I need more time to collect my thoughts and … see how I feel.”
Buying Beverly Hills Season 2 premieres March 22 on Netflix.
