Jo Wenberg’s arrival to Vanderpump Rules was controversial, but few were probably as upset about her joining the cast as Katie Maloney. Initially, Jo’s connection with the cast came through Kristen Doute.
However, soon enough, Jo became more concerned about her connection with Tom Schwartz, Katie’s ex-husband. Fans were immediately wary of Jo when she started popping up on Schwartz’s Instagram, helping him with his hair.
These fans would later come to find that Schwartz and Jo were in a bit of a situationship and, by multiple accounts, living together. This series of events was made all the more uncomfortable for Katie when she received a text from Jo.
Katie’s response to Jo’s “supporting” text
During the VPR Season 11, Episode 7 After Show, Katie shared a “weird” text from Jo that read: “Bieber loves you/I love you, and I’m so supporting of your inner thoughts and visions/live in the moment, you’re a gem and I’ve always respected you. I [love] you.”
Katie revealed that, initially, Jo was “trying to be such a good friend to me and sending me that text when we announced our divorce.” Things unfortunately took a turn shortly after. Katie responded to Jo’s text, “Sooo what’s the story girl?” referring to the newly-shared living space with Schwartz.
“Quite a leap from hitting me up to ask if he wanted a hair cut [sic], to now just weeks after we move out you don’t need me to ask him for a place to live.” See, by Katie’s account, Jo kept pestering her, asking her to ask Schwartz if he needed a haircut. That quickly escalated to moving in with him – without talking to Katie about it beforehand.
Schwartz, however, maintained that he and Jo “never lived together.” He added, “We had no line of communication or anything, and all the sudden, she came over and did my hair, and the next thing you know, over the course of maybe a month or two … we became really good friends.”
