Karen Huger was cited for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and at unsafe speeds when she wrecked her Maserati late Tuesday night in a neighborhood about three miles from her home. The Grande Dame of The Real Housewives of Potomac hit the median, some street signs, and a tree. Her car then came to rest on the side of the road.
A resident who lives near the crash scene gave some insight into what could’ve been. They say Karen was lucky that no one was seriously injured or killed, because if this same accident had happened earlier in the day, the consequences could’ve been downright tragic.
A pedestrian crosswalk was in the path of Karen’s destruction
A resident of Avenel, MD – the neighborhood Karen careened through – spoke to Radar Online.
“She was going so fast when she was going down the road, she probably lost control quite a bit earlier before crashing into a tree.”
They continued, “What was dangerous was that it’s a crossing, a pedestrian crossing so people who are really careless would not have been able to stop if there was a pedestrian and cause incredible damage – even kill a pedestrian.”
“The car hit the pedestrian crossing, then lost control and hit the tree.” The midnight crash was apparently so loud it scared the resident awake.
According to the angry resident, if this same crash happened only hours earlier, someone would’ve been critically injured or killed.
They fumed, “If it were any other time of the day or night, not so close to midnight, there would always be people walking, kids playing, kids crossing the street. And it’s a matter of great concern to the residents that these people are careless, inconsiderate and callous in the way they behave while driving down a residential neighborhood.”
The resident was furious to learn that Karen was allegedly driving under the influence.
They concluded, “It is the height of callousness and disregard for other individuals, and this could have been catastrophic!”
Karen blamed the incident on her emotional state as she swerved to avoid a car coming at her head-on. She says she was crying after leaving dinner with a friend. They discussed Karen’s late mother, who passed in 2017. And, Karen said that Mother’s Day (which is like still two months away) was weighing on her.
Karen’s license was already suspended since she refused a breathalyzer. Hopefully, she and Ray “The Black Bill Gates” Huger have the funds to hire a car service. She’ll need a ride to court.
