On Season 11, Episode 7 of Below Deck, Cat Baugh decided to go home early. Cat struggled with emotional and personal issues almost since the day she arrived on the St. David. She had trouble fitting in with her co-workers from the start. But the last straw was a troubling phone call from home. Both Captain Kerry Titheradge and Chief Stew Fraser Olender agreed it was best for Cat to return home.
“On this boat, I’m at a breaking point,” she admitted. “I need to protect my mental health. It’s like my support system is at home, not here.”
But now the staff is spread thin with the increased workload caused by a missing crew member. With the additional departure of Bosun Jared Woodin, the group is struggling to maintain such a large boat with a depleted staff.
Fraser is not happy
Following his fellow crewmates’ early exits, Fraser expressed frustration at being short-staffed. Normally, one of the interior crew would help out the chef in the galley, washing dishes and doing simple food preparation. But with one stew missing, the remaining stews were busy with housekeeping and taking care of the guests. Fraser was forced to step in and help “disorganized” Chef Anthony Iracane.
“Chef is brilliant, and we vibe. [But] I’m concerned because of cleanliness,” Fraser said about Cheffie’s jumbled mess of a galley. “I’m definitely feeling a stew down. I can’t take on another job, and I feel like that’s what I’m doing at the moment.”
During a night out with the crew, Fraser shared his concerns with his team, Barbie Pasqual and Xandi Olivier. “I love [Anthony], but I feel like I’m doing too much for what really is expected,” Fraser said. “I need to talk to him personally and say, ‘Enough is enough.'”
The truth is that every Below Deck chef really needs a sous chef to assist in the galley. Preparing five-star meals and snacks all day for charter guests is a herculean task. Anthony needs someone to prep his veggies and wash his pots, so Fraser can go back to his job.
Hopefully, Yacht Services will find another stew before long, and the interior crew won’t be stretched so thin.
Below Deck continues Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
