The Grande Dame of Potomac is in hot waters. Karen Huger, star of Real Housewives of Potomac, was recently slapped with a DUI charge by Maryland police after she smashed her Maserati earlier this month.
Potomac’s newest cast member, Nneka Ihim, spoke with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge on their podcast, Two Ts In a Pod, about Karen’s accident. She said she’s reached out to the OG since the news broke. “So, I did reach out to her and let her know that I’m thinking about her. And hope that she’s okay,” she said.
Did Karen take enough accountability? Or any at all?
The Real Housewives stars discussed whether they believed Karen took enough accountability for her role in this accident. According to Teddi, Karen “took no” responsibility when she issued her statement.
In case you missed it, Karen told TMZ that crashing her vehicle was a “very frightening experience.” She continued, saying that the passing of her mother has still affected her, and with Mother’s Day approaching, her grief has “felt more like a tsunami.”
More details of Karen’s crash came to light after a few days. According to the police report, she refused a breathalyzer test, causing authorities to suspend her license immediately.
“The driver, Karen Huger, was taken into custody and transported to the 2nd District station in Bethesda, where she was arrested and cited for driving under the influence. She was then released,” the department said in a statement.
Producers for RHOP will likely explore Karen’s DUI further in the next season. It won’t be the first alcohol-related car accident storyline, though. Real fans of the show will remember the fallout between Ashley Darby and Monique Samuels during an earlier season after the latter’s car accident following a few alleged drinks during a sit-down lunch.
Karen, I hope you’re ready to be in the hot season during Season 9.
