Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor have been open about their marriage struggles now that The Valley has begun airing its first season. The reality stars revealed they were living separately on an episode of their podcast several weeks ago.
In a conversation with People, Brittany explained that things worsened between the pair after the filming stopped, which led the network to resume production. “Whenever we were filming over the summer, we definitely had some blowups,” she said. “But I feel like we got worse after the cameras went down.”

Any fan of Brittany and Jax knows they’ve gone through plenty of explosive fights. However, their “really big fights” this year led Brittany to distance herself. “It was super important for me to get out of a toxic situation,” she said.
“He just needs to calm down. He’s got a lot of different things that he always puts on me. I’m always feeling the pressure of having to deal with things that are going on with him, and that can be really hard.”
In another podcast episode, Jax discussed his anger with Brittany, saying he believed something may have been wrong with his “brain,” causing him to lash out when he feels “backed into a corner.”
“I don’t want to self-diagnose, but there’s something definitely wrong with my brain. I’m aware of that. I’m trying to figure that out.”
Despite their current state, Brittany is still deciding whether or not to pursue a divorce. “I still love Jax very much, but he is a hard person to deal with, and I think everybody in the world knows that,” she explained.
“We’ve got to make money for our future, for our son, for his future. That’s what really matters,” she continued. “We’re going to be in each other’s lives no matter what, whether we get back together or we don’t, so I’d rather us be able to be around each other than absolutely hate each other. Let’s just pray it doesn’t get that far.”
