Andy Cohen’s ‘Not Sustainable’ RHONJ Comments Were Not ‘A Condemnation on This Season’

It’s time to clear up some rumors! After a story went viral about Andy Cohen criticizing the upcoming season of Real Housewives of New Jersey, the bossman took a moment out of his radio show to set the record straight. He doesn’t want anyone to think that Season 14 of RHONJ is going to be a flop.

You might have seen the headline in question floating around social media. It said that Andy thought that RHONJ wouldn’t be sustainable with Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga’s ongoing feud. While Andy admitted that there was some truth to that statement, he made it clear that his words were taken out of context.

Setting the record straight

The misleading headline started after Brice Sander from Entertainment Tonight commented on a podcast about Andy’s thoughts on RHONJ Season 14. According to Andy, the conversation in question happened way back at BravoCon 2023. That feels like a lifetime ago, so it’s no wonder that the details got a little jumbled. Andy explained during an episode of Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live.

“What I want to clarify is that I maintain that statement. It isn’t a sustainable universe to have kind of two camps on the show and I think you see that with [The Real Housewives of] Potomac this season and why a lot of viewers, including me, were frustrated with it,” Andy explained.

Unlike the ladies of Potomac, Andy said that the New Jersey cast was able to make it work for Season 14. Although Teresa and Melissa kept their distance, that’s not the entire focus of the show. In the trailer for Season 14, it’s clear that there’s a lot of shifting alliances happening.

Andy continued, “It somehow worked this season. We got through the season and it worked and it’s interesting and as I think you see from the trailer, the season is not about Melissa versus Teresa.”

At the moment, it’s unclear if there’s any hope for a reconciliation between the two sisters-in-law. However, Andy admitted that he doesn’t want to see either of them leave. During his radio show, he seemed confident that there could be room for both of them.

Andy explained, “They’re both stars and they’ve been on the show, you know, forever, so it worked this season, but I stand by what I’m saying that for the future, it’s not sustainable. I don’t want you to think that what I said was a condemnation on this season.”

Season 14 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey premieres on Bravo, Sunday, May 5 at 9/8c.
