In the wake of Theresa Nist’s oncoming divorce from Gerry Turner, fellow Golden Bachelor competitor April Kirkwood had some words to share.
Yes, for those not in the loop, Gerry and Theresa are planning on a divorce. The two announced on April 12, deciding after many “heart-to-heart conversations,” according to Gerry.
One thing that Theresa wanted to emphasize was the need for hope. “Don’t give up,” she told Golden Bachelor fans. Unfortunately, that message didn’t resonate with everyone.
April and Leslie share some thoughts with Theresa
On April 15, Theresa posted a quote from Dr. Seuss to her Instagram: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Among those commenting was April, who wrote, “I wish you the very best.” She added, “I truly tried to tell you, but this was your lesson to experience. Much love!”
Leslie Fhima also left a comment, one that sounded a lot less condescending. “I love you my friend. I’m so happy to call you that.. you’re beautiful inside and out ❤️” While there were some detractors and trolls in the comments, most users shared sentiments similar to Leslie’s.
In the post’s caption, Theresa wrote, “To everyone who has expressed love, support, and kindness to me I thank you from the bottom of my heart. For everyone else who is confused and angry and who does not understand, please try to find it in your heart to understand and to try a little kindness. Not just for me but for the world and for everyone you encounter.”
She encouraged those reading to maintain hope, even when things didn’t go as planned. She also expressed gratitude for The Golden Bachelor experience, despite its ending. “I ask you to please stay open to all the experiences, opportunities, and love that may come your way.”
