Reality TV is in his blood. Lisa Vanderpump’s 27-year-old nephew, Sam Vanderpump, joined the cast of Made in Chelsea, and he’s already making a splash. If you’re not familiar with the reality show, it follows a bunch of rich socialites running around the UK. It’s filled with drama, romance, and all of the other good stuff.
The show has been on for years, but Sam just joined the cast for its 27th season, or “series” since this is in the UK. Although it’s probably a little intimidating to come into a franchise that’s so well established, Sam had the support of his aunt going into the new experience. He recently opened up to Hello! Magazine about his reality TV debut and how the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star helped him prepare for the new gig.
The Vanderpump Empire has expanded
Sam is an entrepreneur, which is something that runs in the family. He said his parents, uncles, aunts, and grandparents have all owned businesses. When the opportunity to join a reality show presented itself, Sam continued to follow in his family’s footsteps.
“Seeing my aunt on reality TV was quite aspirational; she does it really well. Even before she was on Real Housewives, I went to the same theatre school that she went to. We were always alike in that way.”
According to Sam, his relationship with LVP has gotten stronger over the last few years. His father passed away in 2018, and he was Lisa’s only brother. Sam explained that the loss brought the two closer.
“Losing my dad at a young age was very hard and Lisa has become my guidance on that side of the family ever since,” Sam shared “She is my rock.”
When Sam decided to join Made in Chelsea, he had the perfect resource for tips. You know LVP wasn’t going to let him get in front of the camera without giving him some pointers. Sam told the outlet she’s “extremely supportive and proud,” but also eager to give advice. That’s what aunts are for.
He explained, “She always gives her two cents, though – she wouldn’t be her if she didn’t keep me in check and give me advice. She always tells me: ‘You don’t need to raise your voice. Keep calm and don’t let anyone get the best of you.'”
Clearly, Sam is already taking his aunt’s advice to heart. He said in his first season, he doesn’t “blend into the background.” He also teased that we’d see a combination of rivalries and romance in the upcoming episodes. That’s exactly what we like to hear.
Made in Chelsea airs on E4, Mondays at 9 pm.
