Why Tyler Cameron Was ‘Scared’ Walking into Bachelorette House

Although Tyler Cameron ended up being the runner-up on his season of The Bachelorette, it turns out he didn’t feel super confident walking into the house. It’s hard to imagine a guy like Tyler lacking any confidence, but it turns out everyone has insecurities. Who would have thought?

Tyler dished about his nervousness filming The Bachelorette during an appearance on Sirius XM’s Today Show Radio. It turns out that it wasn’t the reality TV cameras that made Tyler scared. It was comparing himself to the other contestants that got him in his head.

Tyler’s Bachelorette insecurities

A wise person once said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” That turned out to be true for Tyler during his first days on The Bachelorette. Reflecting on the experience, he said he felt like “Joe Schmo” walking into the house. He said everyone else had fancy and extraordinary jobs, while he just felt average.

He explained, “When I was on The Bachelorette, I remember when I walked in that house, and I’m like scared. I see all these guys, and I’m like ‘Damn.”

Tyler said that seeing people like Dylan Barbour, who was a software engineer, and Jed Wyatt, who was a singer in Nashville, made him feel insecure about this construction job. He was at the beginning of his career, while it felt like the rest of the guys seemed like more established “studs,” as Tyler put it.

“I meet all these guys, Jed, you know a singer in Nashville. I’m like, ‘I’m a general contractor,” Tyler explained before adding that he only made $200 a week at the time.

Obviously, Tyler’s fears ended up not being a big deal for Hannah Brown. She kept him around to the very end but ended up choosing Jed. That ended up being a disaster because Jed was pretty much just there to promote his music career. So, perhaps the “Joe Schmo” contractor making $200 a week would have been the better pick.
