As Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules continues, so does Rachel Leviss’ concurrent commentary of her experiences with Tom Sandoval in the fallout of their affair.
Though Tom chose to come back to VPR to share his immediate post-Scandoval life with viewers, Rachel decided to step away from the cameras and seek mental health treatment. Throughout the season, we’ve caught glimpses of Tom’s feelings on Rachel’s absence.
Rachel created her own platform with her podcast, Rachel Goes Rogue. Of course, Tom’s expressed his dismay by painting her as a money-grabbing “sociopath.” In her most recent episode, Rachel recounted things Tom said that she believes were his attempt to get her to leave trauma therapy.
Rachel says Tom tried to talk her out of continuing treatment despite her “really dark thoughts”
During her Friday, April 19 episode of Rachel Goes Rogue, she read a journal entry from her post-Scandoval mental health treatment at The Meadows.
Rachel shared that she had just watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets before writing the entry. In it, Rachel compared herself to Ginny Weasley under Tom Riddle’s spell.
Rachel read, “He has her do all of these things out of her character, out of her integrity, to please Tom. Am I playing the victim role by saying this? Essentially Tom has manipulated me and had me under his love spell.”
Rachel says Tom tried to turn her against her mother by claiming she had “ulterior motives.”
“…He tries to talk me out of treatment. ‘They’re going to brainwash you. There isn’t such a thing called love addiction,’ ” Rachel recounted.
He also called her selfish. “‘This place is a last-ditch effort. Extending is a bad idea. You are becoming dependent on this place.’ He calls me selfish for staying.”
Rachel says she told Tom how low she was. However, he continued his campaign for her to leave The Meadows.
“I shared with him that I was having really dark thoughts, and I told him I was extending two more weeks. And he said that that was a bad idea. And I said, ‘I’m scared if I come out of what might happen if I’m having these dark thoughts.’ He said, ‘That’s still a bad idea. I’ve been having to rough it out here alone.'”
Rachel concluded by expressing her gratitude for the treatment for breaking the spell.
“I feel like I’m very thankful that I’ve had this experience to go in and get mental health care and intense trauma therapy because, without it, I would have remained under Tom’s spell.”
“This is towards the end of my journal. So it took me all of this time to get to this point where I was like, ‘Oh my god. He is always playing the victim role. He is switching the script on me to manipulate me and to control me.’ ”
Vanderpump Rules continues Tuesdays at 8/7c. on Bravo.
