Someone’s competing for the 2024 Daughter of the Year award, and her name is Angie Turner. She’s the child of Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner, and she has come to her dad’s defense following his unexpected divorce from Theresa Nist. Angie thinks we’re all being a little bit too harsh on the former lovebirds.
A gentle reminder from Angie
Gerry and Theresa tied the knot in a live ceremony at the beginning of this year. Earlier this month, they confirmed their split. They were a little vague with the reason behind the split, so everyone has their theories.
The likely culprit is that they couldn’t agree on where to live. He has roots in Indiana, and she is from New Jersey. Uprooting your life and moving across the country for someone you met on reality TV isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do for a septuagenarian, or anyone for that matter.
With that in mind, Angie the Golden Child took to her Instagram with a post encouraging fans to take it easy on Gerry and Theresa following their breakup. While she recognized that the divorce came as a surprise to fans, she said the level of feedback they’ve received has reached an unhealthy level. Respectfully, she wants the Golden Bachelor fans to take it down a notch.
Angie wrote, “What has been disheartening is the level of rage and cruelty that our family has been met with. My Dad and Theresa are kind, good people that made this decision for them, no one else.”
Gerry and Theresa have received criticism from the fans, but it’s also come from within Bachelor Nation. For example, Tyler Cameron slammed the estranged couple. He said that the senior citizens put a “stain” on the franchise.
Clearly, Angie doesn’t agree with that sentiment. On Instagram, she urged fans to keep in mind that “behind every story, there are real people with real feelings.” She’s not wrong, but we still can’t help but feel a little disappointed by the breakup. We all have feelings too, Angie.
