They’re the couple that loses weight together. Real Housewives of New Jersey duo Dolores Catania and Paul Connell have been on a health journey that includes better eating habits, regular gym visits, and weight loss.
The Bravolebrity couple shared all the details about their new lifestyle in a recent interview while promoting the upcoming season of Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Dolores is at her “high school weight”
Dolores has also been very transparent with fans about using weight loss drugs like Ozempic to achieve the desired results. However, she did switch to a similar semaglutide called Mounjaro. Both have the effect of leveling out blood sugar levels, for managing type 2 diabetes or weight loss.
Dolores started at 157, and in July 2023, weighed in at 20 pounds less. During a recent update with The U.S. Sun on April 20, 2024, the RHONJ star revealed that she dropped below 130 pounds for the first time since high school.
“As of this morning, 129. That’s high school weight,” she gushed. “I feel great. I feel the best I ever have in my life.”
Dolores’ doctor wants to see her at 125, an ideal weight based on her 5-foot-3 height. For that, she continues with the weekly regime of the weight loss drug.
The Bravolebrity revealed that “it kind of nauseates you to look at cake.”
“I was a big carb person. I was Doritos, chips, onion dip. Now, it makes me nauseous. So I absolutely don’t eat that anymore,” Dolores explained.
“Diet is a lifestyle, not a fad. So once you’ve gotten to that point, which I have now with the help of Mounjaro, I don’t eat junk food,” she added.
Her boyfriend Paul has also kicked some bad habits. Now, he “drags” her out of bed for workouts “three to four times a week.”
“Paul and I do not eat junk food. We used to go out to eat, then go to McDonald’s at night,” Dolores stated.
As for working out, the New Jersey native said, “It’s starting to feel good to me.”
Paul also gushed about going from being “overweight” to losing 40 pounds. His doctor prescribed Mounjaro and the RHONJ star had been taking it since June 2023. Now, he is on a “maintenance” dose.
“I didn’t know 40 pounds was sitting there. It was doing damage,” he said. “My visceral fat was through the roof. So now it’s like seven and when I started this, it was like 18. That’s the fat around your organs, so it’s not really good… But now I know that I’m healthy.”
“From a doctor’s perspective, my blood, my health, I mean everything [is healthy]. Blood pressure medication came down,” the Irish native added.
Gone are the days of “16 slices of pizza” in one sitting or “three Boston cream donuts from Dunkin.”
“I’ve noticed that I can go longer times without eating now. And when I’m hungry, I eat,” Paul revealed.
Catch the premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Sunday, May 5, at 8/7c on Bravo.
