Are viewers experiencing Vanderpump Rules fatigue? Whether or not that’s the case, Andy Cohen thinks taking a break from production might be good for everyone involved.
While we can’t prove a Pump Rules fatigue with hard data, it’s not difficult to acknowledge the general sense of frustration in the air. Fans had high hopes for Season 11. Arguably, it has not at all lived up to those expectations, especially after Season 10’s highs.
Perhaps the dynamics between the likes of Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, and Lala Kent have grown a little stale. What the cast might need more than anything is some time apart.
Andy acknowledges fan reactions to VPR Season 11
On a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the man himself addressed the choice to pause production on VPR. He prefaced his thoughts by saying, “As y’all know, I don’t produce Vanderpump Rules.” Nevertheless, he thought a brief pause was a good idea.
He explained, “Yeah, we used to do this all the time with the Housewives. We would say, ‘You know what? Let’s put cameras down for, you know, four or five months and come back to them,’ and they will have lived, you know, life. Things will be different.”
“I think that, you know, I was talking to Ariana about this on the after-show last night. I was saying, ‘People do forget, especially as it relates to Ariana, who was the one cheated on. People forget that we picked up cameras a few – three months – after she found out about that affair.”
Andy reminded everyone that the timeline was very much the reason for Ariana’s lingering anger in Season 11. “Look, sometimes you want to pick cameras right up quickly because there’s stuff happening and you want to get in there right away. And sometimes you do want people to live their lives and see how things develop … so, I think it’s a very good idea.”
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
