America’s Sweetheart is coming to Lifetime! Gypsy Rose Blanchard is starring in an 8-part docuseries set to shed light on her life after serving a ten-year prison sentence for second-degree murder. As if we haven’t heard enough about Gypsy in the tabloids, we’re about to get a front-row seat to her chaotic life. The new show is called Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, and Lifetime just dropped the first trailer.
Gyspy Rose is coming to the small screen
According to the official synopsis for the series, production started in the days before her release. She left prison on December 28, 2023. The cameras rolled as she got her first taste of freedom in over a decade. From her life with her now ex-husband, Ryan Anderson, to her first taste of 2020’s pop culture, we’re about to see it all.
This upcoming series is just a tiny percentage of Gypsy’s post-prison media presence. In the days following her release, she went on a press tour to talk about her experience. Apparently, she also has a memoir coming out soon. She’s kind of a celebrity in her own right, and some folks have mixed opinions about that.
On YouTube, the comments under the trailer for Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up showed a mixed reaction. Some people criticized Lifetime for glorifying a criminal. One person accused the network of “creating a monster.” Others shared excitement about seeing a sequel to Mommy Dead and Dearest, with one person even calling Gyspy the “people’s princess.”
Whether you like it or not, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up is coming to Lifetime this summer. The 8-part docuseries starts on June 3rd at 9/8c.
